What Should Be An Honor Has Turned Into Controversy By Grandstanders

President Trump will be attending the opening of the Mississippi Museum of Civil Rights on Saturday, but he won’t be joined by congressmen John Lewis (D-GA) and Bennie Thompson (D-MS) who are boycotting the event. John Lewis had been expected to speak at the ribbon cutting.

The NAACP has declared that the presence of the President of the United States at the Civil Rights museum is “an affront to the veterans of the civil rights movement.”

Had this been President Obama, they would have created a permanent display of him attending complete with a continuously looped video of his speech at the event.

  1. If they would show proof of Trump’s racism I would at least consider it.
No, they have nothing, and in fact the truth is that Trump is a great example of ‘judging people by the content of their character’.

  2. Black history month
    Martin Luther King Birthday
    Black History museums
    Civil rights museums
    Taking down of monuments

Totally sick of being beaten up for something I had no part in.

These events and locations serve not to prop up or champion the aggrieved. They are designed to shame and bully whitey.

  3. I gave up trying to figure what Trump did to get tagged the great racist. The left is insane. And I could give a dirty rat’s ass what the chocolate people’s national association thinks about anything.

  4. To paraphrase Sarah Huckabee Sanders, ‘Christmas came early, this year.’ Just imagine how pleasant it will be without those two being there. President Trump just keeps winning. He’s the energizer bunny!

  5. Nope.

I’m over the celebration of ‘Civil Rights’, who won them, whom they won them from, the struggle, the times.

I lived through them. Might be novel to some, just about tiresome to me. So the organizers can put their celebrations where it gives them a tickle. I don’t need any.

When are we going to incorporate the riots and arson of Ferguson into Black History Month?

  6. Lewis, Thompson & the entire CBC have done more to keep them on the plantation than any slave owners. At least slave owners would feed them or allow sharecropping. Now they make promises to feed them for life & expect us to pony up.

  7. Trump can work a crowd like very few can. He has the touch of everyman and can likely turn the crowd for him by showcasing MLK in a way the others from DC can’t. Lewis will regret this action.

  8. I keep wondering just how PO’d they’d ( Lewis & Co) be if a White History Month was declared.
Iow the only purpose for Black History Month is to promote black racism & it’s one of many paths to keep – being a race hustler a viable career. ( Booker T Washington had them figured out over a century ago. )

  9. “There is (a) class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs. … ”

“There is a certain class of race problem-solvers who don’t want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public.” – Booker T Washington

That pretty much describes the CBC & many others today.
