Tokyo (AFP) – Japanese scientists say that silicon is likely the mystery element in the Earth’s inner core, claiming progress on solving one of the planet’s deepest secrets.
Consensus has long been that the centre of the planet is composed of about 85 percent iron and 10 percent nickel, with sulphur, oxygen and silicon prime candidates for the other five percent.
But geophysicist Eiji Ohtani at Tohoku University in northern Japan and his research team suggest that silicon is the most likely candidate. more

Don’t know what it’s made of but learned from AlGore, the science guy, that it is 5,000,000ºF
That is where all Democrats go when they transfer out of their earthly vessel-into the fiery core of the earth!
When I flush my terlet, isn’t that where it all goes?
Hopefully soon it will be Silicon + Silicon Valley and the rest of California.

It isn’t silicon or dirty orphaned socks.
It’s something yummy

“Yo Mama” would have been an acceptable answer, too.
According to all those Japanese science documentaries I’ve seen, the Earth’s core is filled with giant monsters.
I’ll take Tribbles for 1000 please MJA.
So the big question is how does Ohtani’s research prove climate change? I thought that was all scientists were allowed to study these days.
Nope – Yahoo will post anything

X-rays matched seismic data
Big different frequencies – not even close
