When Is National Fruitcake Toss Day?

National Fruitcake Toss Day should not be confused with the Great Fruitcake Toss Day.

Here is more information about tossing fruitcakes than you ever will want in your entire lifetimes x1,000! Here is another one. I stopped at two sites just to have pity on everyone.

Then there is this video from 2018. Sorry.

  1. huron, that made me so sad. Maybe if you had used one of those Howitzers, it would have had a better outcome. Ever think about coming over to this side of the river?

  2. Hello. I love fruitcake. Big time. If any IOTWReport readers have extra fruitcakes, I will take them off your hands. I am in Northwest Florida. We can arrange a drop. As far west as Mobile, AL, and as Far East as Marianna. Thank you.

    PS – No “Tastykake Fruitkakes.”
PPS – You can even shoot them at me.
PPPS – I will pay good money for a genuine southern-granny-made fruitcake. My granny made the best fruitcakes. I miss that lady.
PPPPS – Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everyone!

  4. @Jethro: Ahh! You lucky duck. I think that’s what my granny used! A whiskey or brandy soaked cheesecloth. Man. I hope you enjoyed it.

I’m thinking that this will be the year I learn how to make fruitcake. It really is an inevitability.

  5. Huron – (hoo-ron) I think of an Indian tribe when I hear that name.

I also dig Canada, Christ and waters….and ice cream..with nuts…NOT sayin’ you are, just sayin’ I like nuts in ice cream!

Have you ever been to the Isle D’Orleans in the St Lawrence River? Magnifique!

  6. So, as I stated never had fruitcake, so @answerman cooper or anyone else send out a recipe already! NO pineapples…though…

Heck, I’d give it a…go. And, if it didn’t work out I could feed it to the squirrels and birds when they find it under the snow after a month or so…out the back door.

  7. Apparently y’all must’ve missed the National Fruitcake Toss Day.
It was the day before our magnifiscent President Trump’s Inauguration Day.

Despite the finality of that day, I remember the Trump family waited a few weeks for the funk cloud to clear the WH after the Fruitcake and his ‘wife’ the Linebacker vacated.

  8. Huron, you came for ice cream the same way we used to get firecracker’s back from your side. We would all walk over and purchase our firecracker’s then one or two of us would swim back with them wrapped in plastic. I don’t recall how we got the plastic bags though cause this was back in the paper bag days. Darn current would kick our butts trying not to get taken downstream too far.

  9. Huron – there us a great island loop and there is a lookout tower on the northern tip of the island you would like it…surrounded by the waters…

Sainte Anne de-Beaupre is just across the river if you want to go there as well. I have my magnet on the fridge…

    Amazing in the Fall..or Autumn…

  10. Huron – was doing some road trippin’ up to the 1000 Islands this past August, waiting for the ferry from Cape Vincent to Kingston we saw this, play LOUD, very LOUD:

Got to Kingston and got on the ‘River road’ north, but had to make the right at the Thousand Island Bridge, could have kept on going…maybe on another trip.

I have not been to Gaspe and the Atlantic Provinces…yet.

  11. I quit eating fruitcake when my mom sent me one just as I was finishing Navy boot camp in the fall of 1972 and I was forced by the Company Commander to eat it all, not all at once but as soon as possible because he thought it might be contraband. I haven’t touched one since.
