LOVE IT! My dog is pretty special too. I bought a house with a large fenced in back yard so I could get a dog. I wanted kind of a dumb, lazy dog so he would be low maintenance, but I ended up adopting a smart, high-energy cattle dog. I swear he understands English. He knows more than just basic commands. I can talk to him about something, and he knows what I’m saying. He has saved me from bad situations a couple of times already. He’s become my home security system.

Gladys, my adult daughter had cattle dog, blue heeler, he always went out with me to feed the horses. One day he mentioned that we have been feeding the for about 10 years and wanted to know when they would be ready to eat. Great dog, he passed just over a year ago. We have a young pup and she is full of piss and vinegar. She loves our grandsons is keeping the older dogs young.

@Wiredog – yes, he is a blue heeler. The smartest dog I have ever seen! When I first got him, I was a little worried thinking I had got a dog who was smarter than me. LOL

Dogs are Gods greatest creation, humans suck by comparison.

My Ellie, a combo of 2 breeds of hunting dog.
She is scared to death of gun shots and thunder, but she’s the best friend I’ve ever had.
Most evenings she likes to curl up on the couch with me and watch old movies or have me read to her.
She may not be able to hunt worth a damn, but she is a great movie and literary critic.

This is a great story, not so much about what Spitfire could do, but rather, what Spitfire could for his handler, Sidney. A feel good story.
