American Thinker: Everyone in the press says Trump wants $18 billion in the national budget for the border wall, for nothing more than to make the number sound huge.
I think it would be good to put the number in perspective, since it is actually a ten-year number. The wall is to be constructed for $1.8 billion per year, or around 0.4 percent of the federal budget. It is less than $6 per person, since we have over 320 million Americans.
To put this in perspective, we spend around $70 billion on food stamps each year, or more than $700 billion total over ten years. Why don’t we read that ten-year number in the press? read more
Obama spent $780 billion under the name of “shovel ready jobs” in order to pad the pockets of the unions to get a good chunk of that money back as campaign contributions. Didn’t do crap to stimulate the economy as we were lied to that it was. Media praised that crap sandwich as one Obama’s crown achievements.
It’s all just another way the media spins things to make Democrats look good and Republicans look bad.
a) Building the Wall has been the LAW since at least 2007 b) so it’s Congress’ JOB to allocate $$ for it. c) You can bet at least some of that Wall is “shovel-ready” right now so get to work.
Please spend all $18 billion this year. I’d rather have it now. Total cost is about the same, but the benefit increases. Actually, I think it would reduce border patrol manpower costs too.
These are the same math wizz kids who have been telling us there are 11 million illegal aliens for the last 16 years.
For $6 per person to build the wall, I will cut a check today to pay my share. Build the wall. Keep out the shitholers. MAGA.
