Will Rogers – When Democrats Made A Little Sense

There was a time when the democrats were proud that a guy with such wit was part of their party. Not so much anymore. Will Rogers, frozen in time, has become a right-winger because the democrats have moved so far to the outer left-wing lunatic fringe.

Here are some Will Rogers quotes-  (h/t to Bubba for suggesting this post.)

“I’m not a member of any organized political party…. I’m a Democrat.”

“I would love to see Mr. (Henry) Ford in there, really. I don’t know who started the idea that a President must be a Politician instead of a Business man. A Politician can’t run any other kind of business. So there is no reason why he can run the U.S. That’s the biggest single business in the World.”

“Our constitution protects aliens, drunks and U.S. Senators.”

“Be thankful we’re not getting all the government we’re paying for.”

“The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn’t get worse every time Congress meets. ”

“Never blame a legislative body for not doing something. When they do nothing, they don’t hurt anybody. When they do something is when they become dangerous.”

“There is something about a Republican that you can only stand him just so long; and on the other hand, there is something about a Democrat that you can’t stand him quite that long.”

“Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.”

“Why don’t they pass a constitutional amendment prohibiting anybody from learning anything? If it works as well as prohibition did, in five years Americans would be the smartest race of people on Earth.”

“A remark generally hurts in proportion to its truth.”

“Anything important is never left to the vote of the people. We only get to vote on some man; we never get to vote on what he is to do.”

~~~~~~~~
He doesn’t sound so big government, does he?
Although, to be fair, the republicans are not the limited government crowd they once were. The best we can hope for today is to vote for the people who pretend to be for smaller government.
  1. One of my core political beliefs is that I don’t mind gridlock in Congress because then they do less damage. This realization came directly from Will Rogers.
    Ford was anti-semitic.
    That said, the quote is quite applicable to President Trump!
    It’s a shame he crashed that plane in Alaska.
    Believe Wiley was the pilot.
    Even if still around today the media would try and squelch anything he said…
    Why the Trumpster won’t give up the tweeting.
