William Barr: Epstein’s Death was a ‘Perfect Storm of Screw-ups’

(AP) — Attorney General William Barr said he initially had his own suspicions about financier Jeffrey Epstein’s death while behind bars at one of the most secure jails in America but came to conclude that his suicide was the result of “a perfect storm of screw-ups.”In an interview with The Associated Press, Barr said his concerns were prompted by the numerous irregularities at the Manhattan jail where Epstein was being held. But he said after the FBI and the Justice Department’s inspector general continued to investigate, he realized there were a “series” of mistakes made that gave Epstein the chance to take his own life.

“I can understand people who immediately, whose minds went to sort of the worst-case scenario because it was a perfect storm of screw-ups,” Barr told the AP as he flew to Montana for an event.

Barr’s comments come days after two correctional officers who were responsible for guarding the wealthy financier when he died were charged with falsifying prison records. Officers Tova Noel and Michael Thomas are accused of sleeping and browsing the internet — shopping for furniture and motorcycles — instead of watching Epstein, who was supposed to be checked on every 30 minutes. read more

  1. Thus far Barr seemingly suffers from Comeyitis.

Comey-itis: the propensity to deny an act of wrongdoing by trivializing the facts.

I don’t anticipate Barr wandering in the woods, deep in thought, whispering words of profundity, but the disease is the same.

  2. So this is the brainiac that’s going to save the Republic with his “10’s of 1000’s of sealed indictments just like Session’s was?

P.T. Barnum’s quote should be chiseled in granite on every government building.

  3. “He added that he personally reviewed security footage that confirmed that no one entered the area where Epstein was housed on the night he died.”

That would support his position, but he should release that (unaltered) video so people will believe him. Otherwise, this becomes the stuff that fuels conspiracy theories instead of dispelling them.

  4. Molon Labe (Come and take them) comes from the battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. 300 Spartans faced 100-150,000 Persians at the Straits of Thermopylae. When the Persian king ordered the Spartans to lay down their arms, King Leonidas of Sparta replied:

“Molon Labe” (Come and Take Them)

The Spartans held on for 7 days, but were eventually all killed (after being betrayed), but not before killing thousands of the enemy in hand to hand combat.

“Come home with your shield, or on it” was the motto of a Spartan warrior. It meant to keep your honor regardless of hardship, to fight to the death if need be, to never surrender.

  5. I remember the original story was that none of the video cameras were operational. Now they say they were working and no one entered Epstein’s cell. Thank you sir, may I have another? Thank you sir, may I have another?

  6. I love true crime books and shows. Do you know what a repeating theme be it a street cop in some backwater berg to a top level detective in a major city- none of them believe in coincidences. Do you know what a “perfect storm of screw ups” translates to? Enough coincidences even Barney Fife could connect the dots; enough coincidences than Johnnie Cochran would know that if he tied to excuse it with a rhyme he would be laughed out of the court.

Add another name to the list of names that the Clinton’s were saved at the last minute because of a very convenient death.

  7. So, Barr has now just proven himself not to be trusted.

By completely denouncing the idea that Epstein was murdered (and conveniently having obtained footage of his cell even though the cameras were allegedly not on), he just cemented the reality that Epstein WAS in fact murdered.

    Funny how that works.

  8. Because… you know… uh… if the only way it could happen is for all… and I mean a double sh!t ton of all… kinds of “mistakes”… had to all happen… all at the exact, same time… then “ignoring” all… every… single… one… of those “mistakes”… to be sure they were all ready to just “spontaneously” happen… all at the exact same time… until they all just “spontaneously” overlapped… is… uh… a… uh… complete and total… um… a… accident. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

  9. For those just skimming: It is “Attorney General” William Barr.

Not, citizen selected at random. Not, mullah here to chew gum and lop heads, who’s fresh out of gum.

It is “loyal Party member, in good standing”. Loyal enough to be collecting lifetime Party stipends for loyal service. Proven loyal enough to be selected by the Party for a new title. Proven loyal enough to be anointed with a Party parade for his new, additional honorific. And shiny new stipends.

  10. Correctly stated, there is no security camera footage that showed anyone entering Epstein’s cell on the night in question. Of course not. The cameras were off. The guards were away. There is no way to demonstrate someone was not already in that cell with Jeffery. Or otherwise. No thinking being believes anything the deep state says about this or anything else. We may be forced at the point of a gun to go along with what these people say, but believe it? Nahh… once you forfeit credibility it is gone and you did that wholly with the Clinton Email bologna. SOLD! SOLD! SOLD! Please stop with this and just tell us we’re under your thumb, get used to it. Of course you haven’t disarmed us yet, have you? So, this charade, among others.
