Snow Brains
On Thursday, September 19, the NOAA updated its long-range seasonal forecasts for next winter, giving snow lovers an early glimpse into what 2024/25 might hold.
Based on the outlook discussion, here’s the early winter 2024-25 outlook.
The updated winter outlook the Northwest is likely to see above-normal snowfall, making it a prime destination for winter 2024-25. In contrast, the Southwest may experience below-normal precipitation, leading to less snow at resorts. The Northern Plains and Great Lakes regions are forecasted to have increased snowfall, while the Northeast could also benefit from above-normal precipitation, although warmer temperatures might affect lower elevation snow quality. Overall, a weak La Niña is anticipated, which typically brings wetter conditions to the north and drier conditions to the south, influencing snowfall patterns across the country.

NOAA seems in line with the “Farmers’ Almanac.” Here
Have NOAA’s past forecasts shown any statistically significant levels of accuracy?
Welp, that settles it; we have to go to nation-wide mail-in ballots, due to the weather. Let’s do it…for the children.
Note: For those not blessed with the sense of humor gene, the above was sarcasm.
I’m trying to figure out what the map is behind her, or if it’s in front of her. Her image shows only half of her. I can’t make out if she’s in front of the map or behind the map. Looks like the western states to her right, but I can’t tell what map is under her left armpit.
Eet ees a meesterie.
TB, it looks like MI counties, with Canada under her elbow on her left.
It is faggotry, if any of you are confused.
Pedocrats fuck children, dogs, ducks, chickens… goats.
Next thing you know we’ll be setting the clocks back and it’ll be dark at 4:30p. Bah, humbug.
She must be wearing a green dress. It disappears and the map behind her shows through.
I’ll make my winter weather predictions next Spring.
Mt. Washington is already in full winter conditions.
Man, this global warming is a bitch!
The good news is average # of hurricanes this winter.
@mmm
I believe you are right sir. Now I can make out southern Lake Huron, Lake St. Clair, and Western Lake Erie.
Thanks for pointing that out.
We can bitch about Winter all we want but it won’t ever change the fact that Winter always falls after Autumn. It’s an unavoidable fact of life up here in the Northwest that’s not going to change. Some years we have easy Winters and other years few as they may be we have snowpocalypses. And without Winter we wouldn’t have Spring and Summer that always comes afterwards and brings new beginnings every year. It’s not exactly my favorite season but we’ve always managed to get thru it. It could be worse we could all live in Alaska where Winter never seems to end from October till April, now that would suck.
San Diego got about an inch or two of snow during the Winter of 1975 and it was hilarious for me watching the native Californians dealing with such a minor snowfall. I was used to far worse snowfalls and took it in stride wearing light outer layers of clothing while the San Diegan’s were dressed in heavy Winter parkas like it was way below freezing and they didn’t have a clue of how to drive in snowy weather conditions. To me it was no big deal to them it was like their whole world froze over. But it only lasted for a few days, and it was back in the 50’s and 60’s again. We like tough Winters up here because it keeps the riff raff away except for the skiers.
Tony R – do it the Democrat way; vote early, vote often.
I invented Winter predictions.
OK, so a guy living in Sarnia, ON and a guy living in Port Huron MI make a bet on which city will get the most snowfall this winter.
Each say to the other simultaneously: You’re On.
