Wondering Why This Is a Marvel

Two lesbians made the news when one dressed as Captain Marvel went down on one knee and proposed to the other dressed as Wonder Woman at the Motor City Comic Con this weekend.

Our whole relationship and our lives are based around comic books and superheroes,” said Vansickle not long after the proposal, which was captured on videotape and followed by a photo shoot.

“She’s actually the first girl, the first anybody I told about my interest in comics,” said Mascia, who described herself as a big Superman fan who bonded with her father over comic books and Clark Kent sagas like the CW’s “Smallville.”

  1. “Our whole relationship and our lives are based around comic books and superheroes,”

…and absolutely NO self-awareness of how sad and pathetic just that statement shows them to be …

  2. How do comic heroes (like Captain Marvel or Wonder Women) usually resolve their conflicts?

What’s the percentage on abuse among lesbian couples?
“rates of violence in lesbian relationships to range from 17 to 73 percent as of the 1990s”

My initial impression is that basing a marriage on a shared love of comics is probably not smartest or the safest approach for anyone, but especially for two lesbians.

  3. Am I horrible for thinking that the saddest thing is that both of them are at least somewhat doable? I was sorta hoping for a Moldilocks and Jigglypuff match made in hell sorta thing.
