It’s a dilemma. Conservatives are against affirmative action on principle. But universities are destroying conservatism by disallowing the philosophy to be exposed to students. So conservative principles have an exploit that the left takes advantage of in order to kill it.

Instead, I would be in favor of pulling the plug on any and all central govt money going to any universities, or any educational institution for that matter. Except perhaps for military academies, there’s no Constitutional basis for the govt having anything to do with education.

No. Affirmative action has, on balance, done more harm than good, and like most other government policies and programs, it never goes away – at least without a fight.
And yes, I understand Czar’s argument – use bad policy against those who created it primarily to give themselves an advantage in the first place. My practice is to try to discern bad policy before it is implemented; one thing I always ask is “what would happen if the other side comes to power…would I still believe that this government action is good?” This type of analysis frequently results in me opposing a lot of things conservatives believe should be enshrined in law because leftists could use the same laws and regulations to advance a completely different, and frequently destructive agenda.
But if affirmative action is used to further a conservative agenda, then conservatives are recognizing affirmative action as a legitimate tool and it will never be abolished. I understand affirmative action exists, but even if it had any usefulness or benefit in the past, it does not now. Therefore, I would be opposed to using bad ideas as some sort of revenge for that bad idea existing in the first place.
