  1. After we were married in 70, our first new car was an 81 Reliant.
Stripper, 2.2L. 2 door, stick shift. That damn car ran for 200 thousand miles. I paid 5.5K for it.
    I kinda miss it.

  2. I had a Dodge Aries, everything about it screamed “tin can” on wheels.
I gave it to my welfare sister. She put 80,000 miles on it in 6 months and blew it up. Wanted me to give her another car.
No, she still hasn’t learned anything.

  3. Imagine the options checklist when ordering one of these:
    Fake convertible top
Fake spare tire cover on the trunk
Fake wood paneling (but only half-way down the side)
    Fake louvered fenders
    Fake louvered hood
    Rear fender skirts
    Rich, Cooooooorinthiaaaaaan leather….

  5. I bought the “New Yorker” version of that car for my wife, back in the day. It was a good car for what was being offered back then. The turbo 4 cylinder engine was actually faster than the 350 V8 Oldsmobile Tornado (what a dog) it replaced.
