Yale Academic Loudly Announces His Move to Canada, Takes Two Others With Him

CP24

An Ivy-League professor who is moving to Canada says that the United States has reached a “midpoint” between liberal democracy and fascist dictatorship.

“We’re beyond the point of a backsliding democracy,” said Yale University’s Jason Stanley, author of the 2018 book How Fascism Works, in a Thursday interview with CTV Your Morning.

Stanley is one of three U.S. academics who have recently announced plans to move to Canada amid rapidly shifting political circumstances south of the border. More

According to Wikipedia, Professor Stanley’s area of study is “philosophy of language” and “epistemology” and has used this as a jumping off point to venture into “political philosophy.” I watched some of Professor Stanley’s shtick on BookTV. I’ll let his words speak for themselves.

How fascism works is really about the rhetoric and ideology of fascism, the notions of hierarchy, dominant group victimhood, sexual anxiety, like talking about LGBT is threatening your children, the rural urban divide. The attack on labor unions, attack on Marxism, painting anything that’s democratic as Marxist, and the construction of a mythic past to which we must return. So that was, that’s that book is like the ideological structure of fascism. It’s really about rhetoric. It’s really about how people talk about the world, but I’m a philosopher of language, and I don’t believe that. You can separate the way people talk about the world from other kinds of practices, so it’s not like speech practices can be completely separated from how you behave in other ways, speech is a kind of behavior. So if people are speaking that way, then you can kind of predict what they’re going to do. That’s why it was easy to see that a coup would happen, you know, so people were like, oh, he’s just talking. But that’s like rarely true and so when you get used to talking about the world, you get used to talking about people like vermin, then eventually you’re going to treat them like vermin.

  1. He should think this through…… If he has a chronic illness like diabetes or depression or heart disease or has a stroke he should know that 1 out of 20 Canadian deaths are government assisted suicide. That’s 5% of all deaths. If he needs an MRI he will wait about 12 months. If he needs joint replacement add another 18 months. Canada is just a huge death camp.

  2. Seeing what’s been excreted by the Ivies over the last twenty years, fuck him and all his tenured colleagues.

To take American Universities from being the best to being worthless is quite a feat. The magnum opus of assholes.

  3. I doubt he was going to make tenure seeing as how he hasn’t been published in his area of expertise in years. Also, based on the BookTV presentation, what he has published is embarrassment (liability) to Yale.

  4. I am currently reading Wendell Berry’s book Standing by Words. Wendell Berry is one of my favorite authors and poet of many good books about culture and other related subjects. All of this is related to this knucklehead Yale professor and his “political philosophy” meaningless gobbledegook deconstruction of his words. An excerpt, “What seems not so well understood, because not so much examined, is the relationship between these disintegrations and the disintegration of language. My impression is that we have seen, for perhaps a hundred and fifty years, a gradual increase in language that is either meaningless or destructive of meaning. And I believe that this increasing unreliability of language parallels the increasing disintegration, over the same period, of persons and communities.” I am a word person; words mean real things and if the language used is described is meaningless gobbledegook which no one understands but other so-called experts and elites then what good is it if no one can understand just what the hell that he is saying. Sociological mumbo jumbo and use of words to confuse understanding should have no place in our language. All it does is confuse things and make most normal literate people scratch their heads at what this idiot Yale professor is saying and for the gullible unwashed illiterate or barely literate masses to accept his words as gospel even though they don’t have a clue what it means because after all he is the expert and knows best which is all lies and bullshit.

  5. People like him are just ignorant of what fascism is. We’ve had 4 major aspects of fascism in the US for decades.

    1. The military-industrial-government complex to serve the armed forces.
    2. The media-government complex such as NPR, PBS, the movie industry.
    3. Federal government-Education complex control of education.
    4. Federal Reserve and IRS.

All this is evidence of an unholy alliance of government and business and education. These are aspects of fascism and this is what Trump is trying to dismantle, as much as possible.

The liberal mind is affected by images, not facts. Trump’s image, being a large, white, older man, tells the liberals that he must be a dictator.

  6. Yale must be thrilled this moron is leaving. I read the blurb above, and I still don’t know what he is talking about – except he doesn’t really know what fascism is. Either he’s just bullshitting, or he is auditioning to be Kamala “Word Salad Kammie” Harris’ VP candidate in 2024.

Canada seems like a good place for people like this to emigrate to – their officials don’t know what they are talking about either.
