YETI coolers cuts ties with NRA

Townhall-

From The NRA Foundation:

“Suddenly, without prior notice, YETI has declined to do business with The NRA Foundation saying they no longer wish to be an NRA vendor, and refused to say why.  They will only say they will no longer sell products to The NRA Foundation.  That certainly isn’t sportsmanlike. In fact, YETI should be ashamed.  They have declined to continue helping America’s young people enjoy outdoor recreational activities.  These activities enable them to appreciate America and enjoy our natural resources with wholesome and healthy outdoor recreational and educational programs.”

The move is even more bizarre when YETI has actively promoted activities involving guns such as duck hunting in a series known as “Dr. Duck.”

YETI coolers is cutting ties with the NRA.

Talk about not knowing your customer base! It’s suicide for @YETICoolers.

That’s fine, let YETI try & get their money from the millennial communists who refuse to pay for jack & expect everything to be given to them.

Had they not, and then pulled this stunt, lots of people would have lost money.

  1. Every Duck Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Mule Deer Foundation, etc etc etc, has had two things in common. A big presence by Yeti, and they all require guns. Really tone deaf stupid move.

Thanks for the link. Yeti was doing a pretty big business with there cups. They custom Cerakote them for promotional give aways. Usually gun related. I’ll be sharing your link with all the Cerakoters I know tomorrow.

  3. Wildland fire manager for the Forest Service, I’ll spread this far and wide. I don’t see too many fire programs continuing to buy Yeti once they know this. Bad move.

  4. I have yeti and have won a lot of yeti gifts at Ducks Unlimited dinners. People take a nice cooler over a .22 rifle. I guess that will be the last of anything yeti I get or give for presents. Both of my boys have gotten yeti brand cups for Christmas and coolers. They may still have use next time I need to take a urine sample to the lab.

The link from Mr. Hanoverfist will do nicely.

  5. Smot guys running Yeti would do themselves a favor by spending less time with gay commies and spend more time keeping up with current events. Maybe they could spend some quality time with laid off executives from Kelloggs, Target, Dick-less, NFL, Ben & Jerry’s, Girl Scouts, New York Times and most left wing news outfits, Starbucks, AARP, Chrysler, Progressive Insurance, and Delta Airlines

  6. I was going to buy a Yeti, but I decided to just get a standard sized fridge being they were the same price and all…

If you pay that much for a cooler, you need to get your priorities straight.

  7. Well….progressives being such avid tailgaters and camping/hunting/fishing enthusiasts, I’m sure yeti will see complete prosperity as a result of their actions.

  8. Yeti cups keep coffee so hot that by the time you can drink the brew it’s turned bitter. Looks like my Yeti cups are going the way of my Scottie vests, buh bye – I’m not really going to miss you.

  9. My wife and I have won three 45 qt. Yeti coolers as door prizes in the last year. That’s a good thing because I would never pay the outrageous price Yeti wants for their stuff. Walmart sells a 30 oz. stainless tumbler that’s an exact copy of the Yeti for 1/4 the price. During the Texas summers, I’m never without one.

  10. Only read a few comments… late in….
This is my take before reading further…
    My question(s).
    WhatTF is a YETI Cooler?
    WhoTF cares?
    WhyTF is this news?
    …other than the publicity.

    Besides, everybody knows…
    IOTW Coolers are the Coldest!

    “Sittin’ in the mornin’ sun
I’ll be sittin’ when the evenin’ come
    Watching the ships roll in
And then I watch ’em roll away again, yeah
I’m sittin’ on the dock of the bay
    Watching the tide roll away
Ooo, I’m just sittin’ on the dock of the bay”

  11. Who the hell buys their over-priced crap anyway? $400+ for a cooler the size of a steamer trunk on the outside that only holds a six-pack on the inside? No thank yew!

  12. Who the hell buys their over-priced crap anyway? People who use them in an unforgiving environment

If I were running Cabela’s/Bass Pro I would ship all stock back to them. Their customers would applaud and it would increase their already considerable loyalty. There is no downside.

I have Grizzly and RTIC coolers and chose the Grizzly because I can run a chain through the solid handles and lock it to the RV and the RTIC because it is a bit more compact and every thing the Yeti is and it was a gift and I was asked if I wanted a Yeti and said, get the RTIC it will cost you much less and I will like it just as well.

Yeti gets stolen at an alarming rate, I had one and the RTC is not as easy to pawn or trade for crack or meth because it does not have the brand recognition. On the RTIC I lock it shut with padlock and use long shank lock to the end of the chain after running the chain through the handles of the Grizzlys. The Grizzly coolers can still be opened by the kids for drinks that way.

  13. Tony R, buy once – cry once, if you are constantly replacing coolers you will have spent much more over your lifetime. Hunting trips even without bears, tuna trips etc can destroy anything less in a single trip. And when you are hauling elk back and have everything from tent poles to wood stoves to antlers to pack into the back of a truck bed on the way home that was full when you left home coolers get trashed unless they are substantial.

Elk meat starts at ~ $10/lb and goes up from there, deer, salmon, tuna, Dungeness crab, pheasants, ducks, geese and halibut are not exactly free either and a busted 60 qt cooler will have north of $500 in meat in it on most successful home bound trips.

Wanna know how I know this? I have penny wise and pound foolish friends who buy new coolers every couple years. I have lesser coolers too and we use them a lot too, and they have lasted us because they are used in situations they are suited to. My biggest problem is storing them all.
