  1. Okay this study is statisticaly meaningless, there are only two Clevland Indian fans; and one of them is an English professor, whose friend, a math professor, got the government grant, to due the study.

  2. FWIW, I switched allegiances from Flushing to The Bronx after I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast cancer patients are particularly susceptible to metastisis, which is commonly called “mets” (as in, “She has mets to the lungs.”). I didn’t want to root for a team that reminded me of a terminal illness.

    The late, great Al Siegel, Yankee fan extraordinaire, called this “The oddest reason I’ve ever heard for someone becoming a Yankee fan.”
