FOURTH SEASON DELAYED.

BigHollywood:

The producers of genealogy series Finding Your Roots violated PBS editorial standards when they omitted information about Ben Affleck’s slave-owning ancestors from the actor’s recent segment on the program, the public TV station said Wednesday.

The scheduling of the third season of Finding Your Roots has been postponed until PBS and Washington, D.C. affiliate WETA can be guaranteed improved editorial oversight of the series going forward, PBS said.

PBS also said that it will not commit to a fourth season of the program “until we are satisfied that the editorial standards of the series have been successfully raised to a level in which we have confidence.”

The public television network will remove Affleck’s episode from all forms of distribution.

  1. “The public television network will remove Affleck’s episode from all forms of distribution.”

Instead, maybe they should air a version that does not “violate their editorial standards.”

    (If they have any.)

  2. Was flipping through PBS recently during their “we need money or you won’t see great programming despite there being 500 cable channels, internet, satellite tv, streaming….” spiel.

It was program on the history of Jewish immigration in the US. It talked about the Jewish exodus from Eastern Europe and Russia, named but I was floored, and I mean floored when the segment came on about it being the MIDDLE EASTERN JEWS, not the Eastern European or Russian Jews who made the greatest contributions to America and then proceeded to have Egyptian, Iranian, Iraqi Jews tell about their “struggles’ in assimilating into racist America (though I did notice they did not name one Middle Eastern Jew who made contributions to film, music, literature, medicine, science, art…. in America).

I won’t watch anything with Skip Gates in it and wonder why leftist who hate history so much are always so willing to research their genealogy.

PBS stands for pure bull shit.

  3. This is odd of PBS. The show is basically an ad for Ancestry.com and not journalistic investigation. Why should standards of journalism apply rather than standards of advertising (which are either very low or don’t exist)? Affleck is probably from a long line of tools, anyway.

  4. Hey Ben, some black guy named Shabazz is looking for you with a couple of guys wearing black berets. Call themselves the New Black Panthers or Pussy’s or something. Shall I tell them you’re not in or do you want to come out from under the bed and tell them yourself?
