9 Comments on Spotlight On a Man Who Should Never Be Forgotten – Rick Rescorla
That guy is a genuine hero! I bet everyone that knew him was proud that they did.
He was fearless and a man to be remembered. A good, good man.
Mr Rescorla was also one of the men in the Battle of Ia Drang in 1965, described in the book We Were Soldiers Once and Young. He is the soldier on the front cover of the original printing.
“Co-author Lieutenant Colonel Hal Moore described him as “the best platoon leader I ever saw”. Rescorla’s men nicknamed him “Hard Core” for his bravery in battle and revered him for his good humor and compassion towards his men.”
I remembering reading about him years ago soon after 9/11. A very dedicated man.
See… Fat guys can be heroes, too. Running up 58 floors of stairs full of smoke and dust… I can’t imagine it.
He was a man people should look to for the definition of good, smart, capable and honorable.
A great man. Mel Gibson should make a movie about him and apologize to his family for leaving him out of the credits on the We Were Soldiers movie.
Some men are born fearless warriors. I’m not one, but I respect those who are beyond words. 9/11 gave Rick Rescorla the chance to die the hero’s death he didn’t have in Vietnam.
RIP, Rick. If there’s a Valhalla, I know you’ll be there.
