I think the likelyhood of a nuclear weapons release has gone up by several magnitudes, and ll that is missing now is an excuse to use one.
Of course the Russians have nuclear weapons, but I doubt if Assad does, or ever did. He’s already thrown everything but the kitchen sink at the rebels, including poison gas, so If he had any nukes he probably would have used them long before now.
Assad was a “moderate” just a few years ago, known as the “Protector of the Christians and Jews” and somehow morphed into the “Butcher of Damascus.” Some of his people were provoked into rebellion, at the same time ISIS was on the march, and when he responded in the Syrian manner (brutally), everybody was “shocked!”
