Do You Drink? Do You Have a Driver’s License? – IOTW Report

Do You Drink? Do You Have a Driver’s License?

What if the horrendous results of drunk drivers influenced the government enough to revoke all driver’s licenses from people who consume alcohol, whether they ever drink and drive or not?

This is the premise of a post made by a person on Reddit.

The parallel is that while 99.99% of law-abiding gun owners never use their guns in an irresponsible way, the actions of a vast minority is endangering the rights of the vast majority.

Drunk drivers kill far more people than people with guns. Why isn’t Obama making speeches about the necessity to crack down on drinkers, because they are all “potential” killers?

People who drink alcohol should not be allowed to call for gun control

  1. It’s a known fact that drowsy driving is basically as deadly as drunk driving.

So draconian laws against being tired should be forcefully applied.

We should also consider legislating whatever will guarantee a completely safe world. Abolish cars. Bikes. Skateboards. Crosswalks. Slips, falls…gravity. Drowning. Stupidity. Overeating. Random acts of Nature. Disease. Death. War.

    There, folks.

    Fixed it for you.

  2. In case you haven’t been scouring the news, and you would need to to find it, there’s been three knife attacks that I know of in the last week. Woodland Ca, Seattle. don’t remember the third. Approx 3 people killed and a bunch wounded. No mention on any national news.

I drink. But I only drink at home. People that drive shit faced one time should lose their right to drive for a long time.

  3. Hey Brad

You and I have bent an elbow here and there over the years at IOTW, and I hope tonight finds you in pleasant company with a cool one in hand. Me and mine are enjoying a outdoor fire now, and adult beverages, properly partaken, are one of the things that make middle age tolerable.

I actually don’t go out much anymore since I feel so strongly about drinking and driving. We know a friend of my son, only 22 now, who killed a man and maimed three a few years ago due to his stupidity. Their lives…ruined. His life…ruined. So stupid; so sad.

I’m not sure where in California you live, but if Uber service is available there, try it. It’s WONDERFUL!

We have actually started going out with friends with an Uber driver to nice restaurants and bars in neighboring towns, and it’s like being young again!

If you haven’t, give it a shot. But otherwise, drink at home. Anything less makes you an asshole of the highest order.

  4. Hey Chief, Because we have a lot in common I’ve always wanted to ask you how much you alchohol concuption has gone up in the last 7 years. Mines a straight spike up. Maybe we an sue.

  5. Veering slightly off-topic here, drunks are only the tip of the iceberg. I can’t tell you how many people I see texting behind the wheel, gabbing on cell phones (which is illegal in New York State, even with blue tooth), or just generally driving like cowboys. There’s some very scary stuff going on on the roads today.

  6. Hell, hospitals kill more people each year than guns.
Lightning kills more people each year than “assault” rifles.
Golf accidents kill more people each year than machine guns.

    It’s ALL BULLSHIT!

The call to curtail or repeal the 2nd is a demand for a docile, subject population – nothing more.

And everyone with a brain, knows it full well.
