Rando tells us that his beloved Housecat #2 has passed on.
After a recent battle with declining health, he took a turn for the worse last week, and was released on Thursday.
Some of you might remember him from comments I have posted here. He was a happy, friendly companion, faithfully watching for me when I returned from work, and always interested in whatever I was doing. Ever since he was a tiny kitten, he liked toride around on my shoulder. He loved laundry fresh out of the dryer- he would burrow into a pile of clothing and then peek out from his concealed hideaway.
This place seems very lonely without him.
I am going to miss that little guy.
Rest in peace in kitty heaven House Cat #2. Rando I am very sorry for your loss. He was very handsome cat.
Sorry.
Always tough to lose a friend.
I feel your pain.
Cat man here also, believe it or not.
May your little buddy rest in peace.
Sorry to hear about House Cat #2, Rando. It’s sad when our little friends go to heaven.
Sorry for your loss. We’ve had so many pass over the years.
We’re battling feline mammary cancer with our alpha-female at the present.
One day some archaeologist will unearth mine and my wife’s mortal ashes and will be completely astounded by all the feline and canine ashes mixed within.
RIP House Cat #2; you’ll catch up to him at the Bridge, Rando.
Remember me always, but do not grieve for me too long.
I have tried always to comfort you in time of sorrow,
and have made every effort to add joy to your life. I
never want to cause you pain.
Peace for me is certain now, and I suspect I will have
eternal sleep in the earth I loved so well.
Please, after your period of grieving for me, make
room in your heart for another. You are the kind of
human being that should always have a friend like me
to love. Your kind and gentle heart should not be
wasted on my memory for too long. Give your love to
another. I know your new friend will never take my
place, because we had something very special.
You loved me very much and I loved you. My spirit will
always be with you, and no matter how deep my sleep,
my grateful heart will always be purring for you.
My eyes are leaking, Rando. He will be missed dearly and you will often ache for him. That’s the price we pay for giving our hearts away to these critters who leave their paw prints all over our souls.
I’m praying for you, Rando. Remember the joy you and Housecat #2 shared.
Rando, so sorry to hear of your loss of Housecat#2. I fear I will be facing the same soon with my 19 yo cat. Yes, cats are wonderful companions! And we fondly remember each as they pass through our lives.
My condolences, Rando. Your heart will heal, but it’ll take some time. Just be happy that you had him to love and he loved you back. They are a wonderful bundle of love and constantly fascinating.
Rando, my condolences on losing your handsome friend, Housecat # 2. It hurts when they leave us. I hope the happy memories you shared will help you through this.
I’m so very sorry for your loss.I do think we see them again.I see many of my lost ones in my dreams
Sorry to hear about your loss. My big fat orange cat Fruitypants passed about 6 weeks ago at the age of 14 and I still get all weepy about him every now and then. My other cats Cracker Paws & Lil Niggy still have many years left in them hopefully.
Turd, I know your loss. Ivan (orange tabby) was 10 when he left me and that was three years ago. I’m still mourning but can enjoy the good memories now. It surprises me, though, that I tear up now and then, too.
God bless you and hug Cracker Paws and Lil Niggy.
I lost my kitty buddy 3 years ago to cancer. I have a harder time with animals passing than I do with people. I replaced him with 2 siblings from the same litter (see my avatar).
I extend my condolences to you for losing such a close friend.
Thanks for your kind remarks everybody.
I will be on the lookout for HC #3 after a suitable interval.
*It’s getting a bit dusty in here.*
Some may never have read this:
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

My sincerest condolences on losing HC#2. When House Dog #1 (Jellica) passed away, I was grief stricken. Fortunately I had House Dog #2 (Peanut) to lean on for consolation. When HD#2 passed on, I had no one. Went out and found HD#3 (Penny) and life returned to normal. There is nothing better for depression than a puppy! You will know when the time is right to find a new friend. I hope you heart heals soon.
Also my condolences to you, Rando. Another cat man here. I’ve lost a few over the years and I miss every one of them. My current boys take turns hanging out with me at my computer and elsewhere in the house. They’ve been great companions. YOu’ll find HC#3 before you know it and, like Bayouwulf says, Life will return to normal for you.
Sorry to hear about you losing your friend Cat#2, Rando.
