  2. @Irish – I could be wrong, but it doesn’t sound like any bad wind turbine that I’ve ever heard, and I’ve heard a few. The noise from those tend to fluctuate more with the wind, not remain constant like this one does. Besides, if it was a bad turbine, it should be easy to follow until you found the source. Obviously this is not the case here, or someone would have done it already.

BTW, since you’re Irish, let me ask you this: Have you ever heard of a Banshee?

    Just curious.

    😛

  3. Have you ever heard an air bubble stuck in a water valve? They bounce around inside the valve at high frequency as water passes by.
Many factors can affect the volume and pitch. I bet there is a watermain valve somewhere nearby that has an air bubble in it that only makes the screetching sound under certain water flow conditions.

  4. That is the sound of somebody’s smart-assed obnoxious spawn with a home-made whistle and a portable tank of compressed air. No doubt the little shit learned how to do it on YouTube.

Pranksters like this should be rewarded according to their wit. Bastinado sounds about right…..

  5. “In Oregon? It’s probably the dying scream of Liberty.”

We’re past that point. It’s the gas of decomposition leaking from various orifi of the corpse that was the Republic.

  6. I once had a chance to purchase a submarine dive alarm on eBay, complete with the battery to operate it . (You know the sound from the movies: “AH-OO-GAH! AH-OO-GAH! Dive! Dive! Dive!”).

Anyway, I e-mailed the seller to find out how loud it was. He said, “Let me put it this way – if you activate it, all your neighbors will know there’s a submarine in the area.” Reluctantly, I decided against bidding on it.

Still think I may have made a mistake…

    🙂

  7. Vietvet, I may need that dive alarm to silence my inconsiderate neighbor’s two Dogs from Hell.
That mystery sound sounds exactly like a microphone feeding back into a PA speaker or amp. I’d check the vicinity for a teenage garage band.

  8. JDHasty, $2812/yr for a $300000 house seems awfully low to me. I would think that it would be a 1/2 tax figure. I pay around $1900/yr for a house valued at $127000 in a rural Ohio county. One of the reasons I still live in the county I grew up in is because our taxes are considerably lower than the semi-rural/suburban areas closer to Cleveland. I spent 13 yrs as a Realtor, believe me if people could find $2800 taxes on a $300k house in this area they’d be ecstatic. And yes, property taxes should be abolished.
