“I’d like to think my face is somewhat fresh, but I’m not for this conversation. I think you need to run for president if you’re going to run for president, and I’m not running for president. Period, end of story,” Ryan said.
“I do believe people put my name in this thing, and I say, ‘get my name out of that,'” Ryan said, alluding to the fact that some in the GOP leadership have proposed Ryan’s candidacy without Ryan’s expressed approval.
Ryan also said he is worried July’s Republican National Committee, in which the GOP presidential nominee will be decided, will have different rules than the 2012 convention — particularly a rule that requires candidates to have the majority support of at least eight state delegations.
“That is going to be up to the delegates. I’m going to be an honest broker and make sure that the convention follows the rules as the delegates make the rules,” Ryan added. “It should not be our decision as leaders. It is the delegates’ decision. So I’m not going to comment on what these rules look like or not.”
A brokered Republican convention is now more likely than ever, as the delegate math in the Republican race is beginning to narrow for front-runner Donald Trump — who may come up short of securing the 1,237 delegates needed to secure the GOP nomination.
HIP HIP HOORAY!!
Sure, just like in Oct. he didn’t want the speaker position.
I trust him as much as I trust any politician.
agree with joe6pak. Only thing driving the elites is a desire to keep the gravy train rolling. With Cruz/Trump it’s lights out. With Hillary the show goes on. No reason to think they won’t try and put in a Ryan or a Trey Gowdy type of “conservative” republican. Only question is will Ryan (or whomever they pick) be okay with being a sacrificial lamb. But I’m sure it will be a well-rewarded gig.
I don’t trust him, he’d go for the presidency in a heart beat. Go ahead Paul you won’t get my vote.
I prefer William Tecumsceh Sherman’s statement, but this will do in a pinch.
Wow!
That read … like … all SINCERE and shit …
izlamo delenda est …
And the check is in the mail.
He’s not lying he shaving the truth like the shitbird he is. He’s going to be inserted into the presidency by the republican establishment.
if *I* were a GOPe “decider”…
…I’d think outside the box:
Nikki Haley/Elizabeth Warren 2016 –
“Indian! Dot AND Feather!”
And that thing where Cruz called McConnell a liar was also for real. http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/04/04/mitch-mcconnells-attorney-pac-stand-for-truth-sending-money-to-ted-cruz-pac-keep-the-promise-iii/
Cruz is the second Bush candidate.
The more Ryan says he is not interested in being POTUS, the more I know he is interested.
I have my fingers crossed that Ryan losses his primary tomorrow.
From Cruz and Trump followers, there is fierce loyalty, but there is also (among many) the belief that the other is a construct of the globalists, or something similar. Yes, Cruz worked for Bush, but there was only ONE GOP president he might have worked for. It’s not like there was a choice. It doesn’t make them ideologically identical.
Most of US voted for Bush, but that doesn’t mean we agree with him on everything. Reagan’s veep was Bush Sr.! The association may or may not mean anything.
I’m more concerned about the appointment of gambler Phil Graham than the association with some in the Bush family.
Similarly, with Trump, he made political contributions to left wingers. A lot of this I chalk up to business accommodation. Some, maybe not. I can’t be sure what he’ll do, but it’s encouraging when you hear he is having the Heritage Foundation draw up a list of SCOTUS candidates. Trump says a lot of wild things. This is his greatest asset and simultaneously his greatest liability. But I suspect he MAY be extremely good.
I can’t be certain, but I suspect that if we get either one of these men, we’ll have done as well as we could.
God willing he goes the way of the Cantor Dodo Bird.
What a coincidence. I’m not interested in him being president either.
He used, OBAMASPEAK Period. DING DING DING
I’d vote for Rand Paul waaaaay before I’d vote for Paul Ryan.
@Pelopidas
Ryan’s primary is in August. Please send what you can to his opponent Nehlen.
Ryan’s primary is in August.
Everyone should send what they can afford to his opponent Nehlen.
A happy day if Ryan, with a $5MM war chest, gets Cantored .
And I might add, if he gets Cantored, good bye to a lame duck Congress passing TPP. The rest of the Congress will react the same way as they did with Marco & Ted’s Immigration bill after Cantor’s loss.
If Ryan tosses his hat into the ring-I will take a dump in it!
Hat’s not in the ring, but his head is up his ass.
