ICYMI: Al Jazeera America Strikes Its Tent

After less than three years of trying to compete in the 24 hour television news market, Al Jazeera America shut down operations last night.

Approximately 700 people will be looking for work today.

The network had a steady audience of about 20,000 viewers, but with oil revenues down the state of Qatar decided to pull the plug in January.

  1. I actually canceled all forms of cable because I refused buy anything that was affiliated with A/J. I have to admit my quality of life has improved and I won’t be signing up for anything now.

  2. I watch all the news channels. Now I am not partial to A/J they did show the news from around the world and report what the local msm stations did not. I look at BBC- France 24-Fox-and RT. I am opened minded and can make my own decisions about what I see and hear. However what really bothers is that 700 people will now be out of work. Do not know if these people realized who they were working for but at the time of their hiring I doubt it mattered. O well, one less channel on my cable station to flip through. Have a nice day.
