college fix – Three professors co-teaching an online course called “Medical Humanities in the Digital Age” at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs recently told their students via email that man-made climate change is not open for debate, and those who think otherwise have no place in their course.

“The point of departure for this course is based on the scientific premise that human induced climate change is valid and occurring. We will not, at any time, debate the science of climate change, nor will the ‘other side’ of the climate change debate be taught or discussed in this course,” states the email, a copy of which was provided to The College Fix by a student in the course.

Signed by the course’s professors Rebecca Laroche, Wendy Haggren and Eileen Skahill, it was sent after several students expressed concern for their success in the course after watching the first online lecture about the impacts of climate change.

“Opening up a debate that 98% of climate scientists unequivocally agree to be a non-debate would detract from the central concerns of environment and health addressed in this course,” the professors’ email continued.

“… If you believe this premise to be an issue for you, we respectfully ask that you do not take this course, as there are options within the Humanities program for face to face this semester and online next.”

  1. This class is taught by an english professor, bio-chemist and sociology professor. What value to furthering one’s education could it possibly have? Clearly not a class fit for a STEM major.

    BTW I am a scientist in the “2%”, so what do I know.

  2. Any pseudo scientist who claims a ‘science’ is settled isn’t worth their lab coat.
    Few knowledgeable will contest climate change is a “thing” it’s been happening since way before man walked upright. What is under contention is how man, with all his feeble power over Mother Nature is able to influence weather.

    I have NEVER had any professor EVER promote or state that outside sources cannot be used for information in any course I’ve taken over the past four plus decades of higher education. But then, I went to university when some semblance of sanity was still prevalent and governmental approval of thought wasn’t par for the course.

    “Moreover, students who choose to use outside sources for research during their time in the course may select only those that have been peer-reviewed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the email states.”

  5. What exactly is “Medical Humanities In The Digital Age?” Is this a companion course to “Reverse Transmogrification And Its Role In Osmorific Genenomics?”

    At least these “professors” outlined their course requirements prior to suckering in some unsuspecting students. I was duped into taking a course about as equally ridiculous, and when I could not drop it, I just asked the instructor “what do you want to hear so I can get an A?” The course fullfilled some requirement I needed, and the primary benefit was that I could promptly forget whatever bullshit I was required to regurgitate as soon as I got my grade.

I hope those students keep this e-mail because with it the dumb professors have completed step one in the paper trail that will detail to the appeals board how they set out to antagonize, target and intimidate dissenting students with intent to fail them, without ever having looked at any of their work.

  8. A major scientific paper just came out confirming that homos are not born that way.

    I’d couch every argument in that class with, ‘which agress with the science of homosexuality being learned’ and if those cunts tried to argue it, i’d tell them the science is settled and it’s not open for discussion.

  11. It reminds me of how about 15 years ago, a male professor at Bowling Green, Ohio presented a syllabus for a course on how politically correct language stymies free speech. He was summarily terminated. One of the female deans explained why:
    “We refuse to allow the teaching of a course that says we inhibit free speech in any way…”

  12. Who on earth would take a class where there is no debate? This sounds like some feminist/left wing/globalist nonsense. All these students should run for the doors. These people have nothing to ‘teach’ you but a bunch of malarky. Their time would be better spent staring out the window.

    Since when does general agreement equal truth and reality?

    We are to believe that a very rare gas (CO2) in the atmosphere (<1%), of which man contributes less than 5% to its level, is responsible for global catastrophic weather issues? Where? We have had storms and droughts since the start of time. Polar ice melts and reforms without much overall change. Hurricanes are trending down. There are some local things like mountain ice, but that's just it, it is local things based on specific nearby factors. I have science training and I would be in the 2% that calls foul and bullshit.

    Just remember that a good portion of our population think that Elvis is still alive and in hiding and that aliens and UFOs are for real. There are dolts, idiots, morons, fools and tools everywhere and they rely on them. Oh yeah, they're also Democrats.
