    Or it could be a jihadist doing a dry run. Think outside the box Captain Keystone.

  2. If, as the police flack said, “…it was not a pipe bomb, not a Molotov cocktail, had no projectiles, no shrapnel and nothing was ejected,” then likening it to a firecracker is reasonable. The potential for bloody mayhem and mass murder was certainly there, but that didn’t happen, thank goodness.

    Still, find the perp and throw the book at him.

  3. Are firecrackers legal in CA?
    Who wouldda thunk it?
    Cherry Bombs, M-80s, and Quarter-sticks used to be firecrackers, too.
    Ever seen what dry-ice and salt, encased in cast-iron, will do?
    (think it was salt – don’t know if that hastens sublimation of CO2 or not)
