CNBC-
Loren Krytzer walked into the California auction room broke and unemployed, surviving on disability checks. Seventy-seven seconds later, he walked out a millionaire — all thanks to a blanket.
“Everybody loves a rags to riches story,” laughs Krytzer.
His life changed forever when he discovered that a forgotten old family heirloom, a Navajo blanket from the 1800s that had been sitting in his closet for seven years, was actually worth $1.5 million. And just in time, too. He had been scraping by, living in a shack on the edge of California’s Liona Valley, and had lost a leg after a near-fatal car accident.
I guess I need to no if he’s a conservative before I get all giddy,
“the catch-cloth for a litter of kittens”
I’d say ….
He’s suddenly rich!
Except the auction house will take 25% and the US government will get 30% and California will take 13%.
Well, at least he didn’t get the plague from it.
If someone knows where I can find a mint copy of Action # 1 (Superman’s debut) from June 1938 please let me know.
I saw this story a little while back and for some reason it makes me think of this…

After reading this I was inspired to check my own closet, dang, nothing but skeletons.
@Mr. Anth Ropy: And just wait until the Navajos get wind of it and start demanding reparations and a cut of the proceeds for the loss of their precious Native American heritage that was stolen from them by the evil White devils back in whenever, yada, yada yada….
🙂
I see he bought a Harley. (A crappy, noisy, $4,000 motorcycle that morons pay $25,000+ for.) He’ll be broke in about a year.

Watched this a month or so ago. Has auction and all on it
I’m with Viet Vet, he should face charges for heritage hoarding.
My brother and I buy at auction for resale, we’re always on the lookout for a Victorian Egg Timer.
This short clip doesn’t setup the scene, so I will. In a Brit show, Only Fools & Horses, two brothers are always looking for ways to make money. Years ago they stumbled upon an object, they thought it was a simple egg timer, so they used it in their kitchen. Later they found that it may have some value but didn’t know how much, so they consigned it to Sotheby’s. This clip shows the sale. LOL!

I checked my closet and nothing but firewater, guns and tobacco.
I agree with pbunyan that the guy will be broke within a year. I read the extended version of this story a few days ago and couldn’t believe how stupid he is. Among some of the other things that he already blew a bunch of cash on besides a Harley are a cruise, two houses and a new car. Not just any car, but a Dodge Challenger or some such that he paid the “Pimp My Ride” guys to customize. Dumbass………
old_oaks, that clip was worth following. Now I’ve got to watch more of those guys.
Another misleading headline Fur. I expected him to find his missing leg in the closet!
Candy Corn, OF&H is a great series, almost all the episodes should be on youtube. Since the holidays are here, be sure to check out the Christmas specials.
