Now there is a girl who lets nothing stop her from living life w/o excuses….we could all learn a lot from her.
WOW makes my handicap look like a loser. I’m humbled.
I was in Eugene a few years back doing some product testing. I started to pump gas into my rental when the attendant came running up and asking me to stop. He kindly explained it was illegal to pump my own gas. I was surprised.
We had a nice conversation about how screwy Oregon is. He explained the tent city I drove by at a rail yard was called Whoville. The creatures living there looked like they didn’t know the Grateful Dead or Phish weren’t playing anymore. He didn’t have any kind words for the bums.
Makes me check my attitude about a lot of things.
An attitude to envy.
Outstanding young woman. I only wish most people had that sort of drive and determination in the face that handicap.
One of my bucket list items (and if I suddenly had too much money) is to open a full service gas station, the kind where everyone in the gas detail wears white uniforms with their names embroidered over the pocket and those white hats with a matching, colored piping. Everyone has clean, neat hair. They have a tire gauge in their breast pocket and a clean dipstick cloth in their back pocket for every new customer. They wash the windows and check the oil and tire pressure for every customer who wants it. They check the radiator’s water level and top it up. And my service station gives out nice glassware with every fill up. And lollies for the children.
(This was an actual service station in our town where I grew up.)

Worked at a full service station as a kid. OK, I’m still a kid at heart 🙂

Truth is here in Orygone that ruling only affects about 5 rural counties.
The reason the state mandated the gas attendant rule in the first place was because the liberal commiefux (aka treehuggers) here decimated the logging industry and it was a way to offset the unemployment it caused. NOW these jobs are mainly filled by young people out of school or recent escapees from the communist state to the south that take these jobs as a way to establish roots up here.

Doc I’ve only had scruffy white men pump gas in OR. Oh, and one Mexican in Portland.

I remember the PURE full service station as a kid. Owner’s name was Red. Always in a good mood, knew all of our names. Dad took all his car work to Red.

Why would they have to pump their own gas? Doesn’t the state government provide all its citizens with a Chevy Volt?
The right to choose, especially by voting is a form of freedom not to be ridiculed. Rejecting self-serve gas is by the will of the majority of voting Oregonians, in spite of the on-going Communist agenda in Oregon politics.

Mortgage guy, THANK YOU for jumping in. So encouraging to see you tell of a young gas station kid aware of current events in the socialist’s hell hole of Eugene. AFU cuz it’s a college town. That gas station kid is more aware of what’s going on in the world than most U of O professors with walls fulla diplomas. A few years back there were about FIVE, EFFIN’ COUNT THEM, FIVE conservative radio stations in Eugene, a small town. Last time we visited, they were down to 3 conservative radio stations. One of the Conservative radio stations took so much ad revenue, the worst of the worst commie TV(!) stations had to close up shop. Nephew from Kaliphornia who graduated from U of O, said you would not believe how many conservative kids are on campus. Conservative kids quietly go about their business, and may very well be the majority, but clueless air head liberal kids and their communist professors get all the media’s attention.
i have mixed feelings about videos like this…..
first, they make it seem like, whatever your disability, you can do ANYTHING….that’s kind of a good message….
second, they make disabled people seem like some kind of freaks…not such a good message…..
third, they make “normals” feel like giving aid to the disabled is unnecessary, since, obviously, THEY CAN PUMP THEIR OWN GAS…..]
i am disabled….there are a lot of things i can’t do…my back has been broken at the bottom and at the top, and neither injury healed properly…
different people heal differently…some people can pump gas with no arms……others can’t……does that mean the ones who can’t pump gas with no arms aren’t TRYING hard enough?????
this is the message i’m hearing, even if it’s not the one she intended to send……
this is the message i get from all of these “watch this disabled person do this impossible shit” videos….
any disabled person who CAN’T do IMPOSSIBLE SHIT is not REALLY TRYING, or FLAT OUT FAKING…..
i’m tired of living with it…..tired of people thinking i COULD, if i would just TRY….
and now, they want to take away my pain medication, on account of the OPIOID ADDICTION EPIDEMIC…..
