Understanding Pelosi’s “Crumbs”

P. Henry writes:

I understand it because of a personal experience in DC.

Back in 2012 in DC a friend of mine and I spent the week at CPAC.  On the last day we gave away our tickets to the featured banquet to struggling college conservatives and decided to go to an Italian joint for dinner.
I Ricci was the name.  We took a cab to a place quite near the White House and the waiter promised to take care of us.  No menu.
The food was great and we had only one bottle of wine.  Ok.  One and a half bottles.
We ate well but didn’t gorge ourselves.

At the end I told the waiter, who bragged that VP Biden sat where I was sitting the night before, to split the check 50/50. (Waiter missed my comment that it explained why the booth smelled like ass.  My friend laughed uproariously.)

But back to Nancy and crumbs.

He delivered me a bill of $300.  He also gave my friend a bill of $300.   WTF?
Don’t get me wrong.  OK, get me wrong.  Six hundred bucks for two people eating Italian food!?!  Plus cab fare back and forth!!
We don’t live in their world.
I could feed 1000 people well for $600.
Not 2 people, which is Nancy’s world.

  1. OT:

Sorry, I need to share this rant:

Some POWERFULLY noteworthy visuals that I believe need to be shared and EXPLOITED for the good of the country:

    1. Louis Gutierrez evidently HATES the USA: https://twitter.com/megwagner/status/958542791390343169?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

    2. The Black Caucus is evidently FUNDAMENTALLY INDIFFERENT to the fact that Black unemployment is at its lowest level ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgKcGuF-Mzw

    3. It’s becoming PLAINLY EVIDENT that the democrat party (and many republicans) don’t give two shits about UNITY. They need DIVERSITY (division, dilution & chaos) in order tho retain the STRANGLEHOLD on the part of America they see as supererogatory so that they can retain control of a populace they require to remain STUPID, BLIND, and STARVING: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2XJ1dAOTxA

We’re seeing a paradigm shift occurring in this country in real time. Referencing a NASCAR term; “Trump is removing the restrictor plates”.

Panic will surely ensue once it becomes evident to the public that Trump is revamping the alphabet agencies (CIA, DOJ, DNI, FBI, IRS CFPB, EPA), and the henchmen Obama placed therein start being prosecuted for everything from sedition against the United States to outright TREASON.

The Guantanamo Bay reference in Trumps speech was a shot across the bow to the traitors.

Finally the fight is being taken to THEM!

  2. $600? Holy crap. I could have sent SO many packages to soldiers in the harms way with that kind of dough. But to Nancy, that’s crumbs.
The SOTU showed us where the Dems stand, and it’s NOT for We The People.

  3. Believe it or not we actually went back the next year, this time with our wives and another couple. The food is fantastic. Similar cost, even without the Biden joke.

The Palm restaurant, a long time Washington institution for the powerful is across the street.

My point is that $1000 doesn’t mean anything to Pelosi. Try eating at a nice restaurant in her home district in SF. Similar prices.

  4. TO P Henry
Not taking issue with your larger point, but…
the waiter RIPPED YOU OFF, just like they do tourists in Rome, on the WINE:
the dinner meals aren’t cheap, but within reason
    http://iricchidc.com/menus/

You REALLY expect cheap eats at a White House area restaurant called “The Rich”?!?!?!?!?!?

  5. I took my family to D.C. in 2011. We went to purchase Metro passes, and we were puzzling over which option was cheapest, when a helpful Metro officer came and suggested we only buy Adult passes and let the kids jump the turnstiles. I laughed nervously, looking for the camera, but the guy assured me that we’d have no problem, as the gatekeepers would look the other way every time. By the end of the week, we were accomplished scofflaws and artful dodgers, but I felt guilty and corrupted by the city.

Pelosi would no doubt smile benevolently of our criminal behavior and consider the fleecing of the taxpayers which we participated in to be a wonderful gift from the government to its subjects. Certainly not the moldy crumbs which it actually was. I was glad my kids weren’t paying attention to what was going on at the time, but now I use it as a lesson in Democrat values. If you go to D.C. you are going to get some swamp on your boots when you reach down to pick up the crumbs.

  6. I highly doubt Pelosi is paying less at that restaurant.
That’s the cost for restaurants in that area, because they paid a HIGH PRICE TO POLITICIANS to win the bid for having a restaurant in that area.

  7. Went to a restaurant once that had no prices on the ladies menus.
Cost me $300 and I had to stop at the Krystal on the way home.
What the hell is it with big plates and little bites that seems popular?
If I spend $300, I want to have Chef Lef’Tover come the next day for brunch.

  8. Holy whatever, I go to a great Asian buffet where my brother lives and everything – I mean it – is great. The turnover is so fast that nothing sits around for very long. Huge variety. First time I went, the bill for two came to $17.25. I nearly fell off my chair. The next time we went, they asked if we were senior citizen (yes) and the bill was even less.

Granted, going to a fancy restaurant is nice and I don’t mind paying more for it, but $600? I’m too much of a penny pincher.

  9. Trump staked out the political middle last night. He isolated the Dems on the left, showing that they are just rejectionist America haters, undeserving of power.

Trump focused on success and on individual stories of heroism, idealism, determination, and patriotism.

He co-opted the Dreamers by promising eventual citizenship based on merit, not entitlement. The Dreamer/Citizens-to-be will support immigration reform because it benefits them in the same way it benefits native born Americans.

No wonder Schumer scowled and Pelosi nearly choked on her dentures. Trump had their number and left them a wake up call.
