McCabe is the canary in the coalmine. If he doesn’t get prosecuted, nobody will. The fix is being lubed, but it’s not quite in yet.

This is called “preemption” for the uninitiated out there – he obviously expects an indictment (to which McCabe has no defense) so he’s muddying the waters so that he can yell “SEE?! I told ya so!” after McCabe gets sentenced to jail.

His attorneys are just trying to set the stage for a claim that this is a political vendetta. They will play this card all the way to the trial, the sentencing, the endless appeals, and the request for a pardon.
