DOJ RELEASES CARTER PAGE FISA APPLICATIONS: “I’m having trouble finding any small bit of this document that rises above completely ignorance and/or insanity.” -Carter Page

DC-

In an unprecedented move, the Department of Justice has released 412 pages of top-secret documents related to surveillance conducted against former Trump campaign chairman Carter Page.

The documents include an October 2016 application and three renewal applications for Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants taken out against Page.

The New York Times and other news outlets obtained the applications through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.

“Now, with the actual documents in hand, not political spin written by lawmakers with agendas, the American public can make their own decision on whether anything was inappropriate about the surveillance of Carter Page,” added Moss, who is deputy executive director for the James Madison Project, a government transparency group.

That section cites information from “Source #1” who alleged that during a trip to Moscow in July 2016, Page met secretly with two sanctioned Kremlin insiders, Igor Sechin and Igor Diveykin, as part of a collusion scheme involving the Trump campaign.

The source appears to be Christopher Steele, the former British spy who wrote the dossier.

  1. I just finished reading the first FISC warrant application and I understand the renewals also included are for practical purposes identical. There will be some information to be gleaned from this document, but my main conclusion is that in order to honestly evaluate it the page after page after page of black bar redactions need to be published as well.

What remains after the censoring is consistent with the position best laid out by sundance at https://theconservativetreehouse.com/ – that the warrant application is a dishonest concoction based wholly or virtually so on the Steele crap “dossier” and that the FISC was lied to and mislead so they would approve the surveillance on Trump’s campaign, transition, and administration for political purposes to damage Trump and boost Dems.

“[D]ishonest”? Of course. (Same as it ever is.)

“[L]ied to”? Well… kind of. (The request was “Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies.”)

“[M]islead”? Oh, hails no! When you coach the only side, and keep having them come back, again and again, until they can deliver the lines you’ve fed them, without cracking up, so you can say “I’d believe that story, if someone told it to me.”, you’ve not been mislead. You’ve willfully conspired.
