You know how it’s sometimes fun to watch a movie you really love with someone who’s never seen it before? There is great satisfaction in knowing they enjoy something you enjoy.
Lately I’ve been watching “people react to FILL IN THE BLANK” videos. I have to admit I really like the ones where black people react to “white culture.” The blacks who hate whitey sicken me (like that idiot we profiled today who is a CBS news producer, who is looking forward to the day white people are disappeared.) It’s soul sapping and removes all hope that we could ever get along, or that society will not be forever dysfunctional.
Conversely, there is something extremely uplifting to witness someone who hasn’t been exposed to “white music,” for whatever reason, and watch them listen for the first time.
This video of a hip hop fan willing to expand his horizons and listen to Pink Floyd is inspiring.
I’ve cued the video midway through the song.
It’s really beyond me how anyone could NOT react this way to the “album most used to test out new audio equipment”.

Sorry, but I will never understand why Pink Floyd is considered rock music.
The beginning of that song was used in Macy’s commercials in the Bay Area in the early ’80’s.

Uh, wow. It’s called progressive rock, no standard sound. It’s all unique and different each album or band in the genre, i.e the word ‘progressive’.
And Pink Floyd is way more ‘rock’ then a lot of bands I can think of but I don’t wanna ruffle feathers.
Oh my gosh, this makes me smile a gigantic smile – I love Pink Floyd so so so so much, and feel so happy for others who find them after not having heard much or any previously. AWESOME band.
So how do you think he would’ve liked Several species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave and grooving with a pict from Pink Floyd’s album Umma Gumma? Let alone swatting that damned fly buzzing around in of their songs on that album. My best friend and I wore that album out back in the early 70’s playing it to death.

If you call bending over and squealing like a pig making love but I don’t think so. I should’ve never gone and seen that movie if that’s what I remember most about it that and the retarded kid and dueling banjo’s. Paddle quickly I hear banjo’s!
That was an album where the quality of the recording done was way better than most. Another was Crime of the century by supertramp. If you had good equipment it was fantastic. There were others too but those were a couple of the best.
I shouldn’t leave out Allen Parsons while mentioning great talent at recording.
Pink Floyd was tops on my Bucket list of bands to see live. Finally caught them at the old Pontiac Silverdome (Mich) for the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour. Was not disappointed. One of the few bands where they sounded as good live as on their albums. The other was Steely Dan. Good Times.
I may be cynical but there is a niche Youtube hits industry of _______ people trying _______ other people’s music, food, etc.
Irish people trying American food or liquor. Blacks trying rock music. Teenagers trying old people music.
Some look real. Others look like they are trolling for likes and subscribers.
The Irish ones are funny because their food sucks.
A good Youtube series is callex Hot Ones. A solid interviewer gets great guests to talk to him as they eat increasingly hot chicken wings. The truth starts coming out at a certain level on the Scoville scale.
Never been a Pink Floyd fan.
That being said, this is probably the first time this young man has heard actual instruments being played.
Dark Side of the Moon only spent 17 years actively ranked in Billboard’s Top 200 and around Top 5 in all time sales.

I can remember putting the Dark side of the moon on the turn table for the first time, and putting on my best headphones, and settling back in my bean bag chair and drinking a beer or two while listening to an album that I have never grown tired of. Still a fan to this day.

It’s called “In Search of the Comet – The Coming of Khoutek.”
Fidelity isn’t the best, for sure. These guys sound pretty messed up reciting The Lords Prayer.
It’s in mint condition, only played a few times.
