Harvard May Have Found Master Switch Controling “Regeneration”

In a study of three-banded panther worms, biologist at Harvard believe they have found the genetic mechanism that allows some animals to regenerate their entire bodies after being cut in half. “What we found is that this one master gene comes on…and that’s activating genes that are turning on during regeneration,” Gehrke said. “Basically, what’s going on is the non-coding regions are telling the coding regions to turn on or off, so a good way to think of it is as though they are switches.”

While we humans have a similar genetic switch, the researchers speculate that we are wired differently than panther worms and thus lack the ability to regenerate on the scale they can.  More

  1. “May” have found what has already been known about worms? When the alleged researchers can prove they have actually regenerated limbs of US Military IED victims, then and only then can they make newsworthy claims about success. Some Harvard goofball has an ego problem.

  2. “Damn, can’t put anything by those Harvard science type guys.”

Well, as you know 99.99999999999% of (hahvahd) scientists agree anthropogenic global warming is, like, totally for realsies. Dry bees smert.
