An act of kindness

newser-

When an Alabama man went out to eat with two buddies, he noticed an older woman eating alone in the restaurant in Oxford. “My exact thoughts was ‘dang I’d hate to have to eat alone,'” writes Jamario Howard in a now-viral Facebook post, per Fox 8. Howard spoke to the woman briefly and learned that she was a widower who had gone out to eat on the eve of her 60th wedding anniversary. He gave his condolences, and she accepted his invitation to join him and his friends. “The point in this is always be kind and be nice to people,” he writes. “You never know what they are going through.”

Original post-

So tonight JaMychol Baker Tae Knight and myself went out to eat at this place called Brads in Oxford, and after us sitting there a while waiting on our food i noticed an elderly woman sitting alone. My exact thoughts was “dang I’d hate to have to eat alone”. So after thinking about it a minute i walked over to her and asked if i could sit with her.

She said yes and we talked for a minute and after a while of talking she told me she lost her husband and that tomorrow would have been their 60th anniversary. I instantly gave my condolences and asked her to come eat with us, which she was excited to do. The point in this is always be kind and be nice to people. You never know what they are going through.

This woman changed my outlook on life and how i look at other people. Everyone has a story so do not judge! And people i can’t stress this enough. GO SEE YOUR MOM AND YOUR GRANDPARENTS. They miss you!!

  1. Altruism is in itself reward enough but what most people forget or fail to grasp is how fulfilling/uplifting it is for the soul. Do something nice for someone else and the rest of your day you will have a spring in your step and a smile on your face.

  2. When do you set limits. I know it was a nice story and gesture on his part and it turned out well for him and her. Nowadays people will take advantage of you if you show them some kindness. I’ll be the stick in the mud and not be the one who gets shot or mugged for being nice or taken advantage of. Been down that road.

One more thing…it depends on what kind of parents you had growing too. Me, I have nothing to offer them. Won’t go into details…

  3. Saw this story posted at another site and passed it along to several friends and family members this morning. It’s SUCH a great story and with all the bad/distressing/frustrating news that takes up so much space, well…. nothing like some GOOD NEWS. 👏

  4. Now this is one of those “some people did something” that I can embrace! Very sweet story.

  5. Miss the generations born in the early 1900’s through the thirties. Seems they had more character, morals and grace about them. They also wouldn’t put up with any shit from anyone either.

  6. You hear so many terrible things on the news, it makes you think the world is filled with nothing but the worst people ever to live and breathe.

If the news ever focused on the small but good things people do for each other every day, we would trust each other more, worry less and find the news less necessary.

Stories like this would bankrupt CNN.

You lose your wife of thirty years you find money means nothing.
I’d pay most everything I saved to have my baby back in my arms for a few more years.
