A Michigan Republican and member of the House Freedom Caucus accused President Trump of “impeachable conduct” in a break with his party.
Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) tweeted Saturday that the president’s actions to potentially obstruct the now-shuttered special counsel investigation warrant impeachment by the House. He also accused Attorney General William Barr of “deliberately misrepresenting” Robert Mueller‘s report of the investigation’s findings.
“Here are my principal conclusions: 1. Attorney General Barr has deliberately misrepresented Mueller’s report. 2. President Trump has engaged in impeachable conduct. 3. Partisanship has eroded our system of checks and balances. 4. Few members of Congress have read the report,” Amash wrote Saturday afternoon.
“Mueller’s report reveals that President Trump engaged in specific actions and a pattern of behavior that meet the threshold for impeachment,” the Michigan Republican continued. “Mueller’s report identifies multiple examples of conduct satisfying all the elements of obstruction of justice, and undoubtedly any person who is not the president of the United States would be indicted based on such evidence.”

In his 2017 financial disclosure forms (pdf here), Representative Amash reports income of between $100,000 to $1,000,000/yr. for his ownership stake in Michigan Industrial Tools. Michigan Industrial Tools is the parent company, manufacturing in China, that produces Tekton Tools, Justin Amash’s Michigan family business.

Trump can be impeached for any reason the House agrees on, any reason whether sensible or not, even a bad haircut, and removed from office if the Senate goes along with it.
Truth and justice do not figure into the process as a requirement since the Constitution leaves “high crimes and misdemeanors” undefined and leaves them meaning anything Congress wants them to mean.
meyou, you’re correct. He is in my district and I voted for him. Researched him before I moved here, (he was elected the first time before I moved) and he had 100% conservative rating. Was part of the Freedom Caucus (Jim Jordan is a founding member), so I thought it was ok to vote for him in 2018. Since then, I had been reading some of his Tweets and was concerned. I even unfollowed him because I was disgusted.
Now, he has come out full retard. I hear some news of a possible challenger to his seat from a State Representative, Jim Lower. This was a Tweet from him yesterday in response to Amash’s statement: “This cannot go unchallenged! I support @realDonaldTrump, I support West Michigan values, I support our party’s values and I will have a major announcement regarding MI CD3 this week!”

@Meyou and Claudia, while western Mich is for the most part conservative, the democrats do well in Kent county and especially Muskegon county. After all Justin had to beat out a Dem for his seat, which only took place because of the Tea Party surge and Hillary carried Muskegon county in the 2016 Presidential election. As a conservative libertarian I’ll explain why Trump should be impeached: He is not protecting the border and rounding up ALL illegal aliens and deporting them, he has not repealed the income tax and abolished the IRS, he has not abolished the Federal Reserve, he has not abolished federal agencies such as the Dept. of Education, HUD, Dept of Energy, etc. etc. etc. He has not pulled U.S. troops out of 150 countries. He has not rescinded the Congressional Act of 1871 making the U.S. Government a corporation subject to foreign influence. He has not ended entitlement programs. He has not recognized socialism as a state RELIGION making it constitutionally illegal. ETC. ETC. ETC. ETC… In short he has not restored the original CONSTITUTION (flawed as it is). That said, he is 1000 times better than a democrat president and I support him because his efforts are leading the country in the right direction and he is making liberals heads explode.
