Two Tankers Targeted Near Strait of Hormuz

Stars and Stripes – Two oil tankers near the strategic Strait of Hormuz were damaged in suspected attacks on Thursday, an assault that left one ablaze and adrift as sailors were evacuated from both vessels and the U.S. Navy rushed to assist amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran.

The Navy and the ship’s owners offered no immediate explanation on what weapon caused the damage to the MT Front Altair and the Kokuka Courageous in the Gulf of Oman off the coast of Iran, though all believed the ships had been targeted in an attack.

It marks the latest mysterious incident to target the region’s oil tankers. The U.S. alleged that Iran used limpet mines to attack four oil tankers off the nearby Emirati port of Fujairah last month. Iran has denied being involved, but it comes as Iranian-backed rebels in Yemen also have launched missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile in Iran, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that while Tehran doesn’t seek nuclear weapons, “America could not do anything” to stop Iran if it did.

  1. I heard one ship had a hole put in it’s hull above the water line. That sounds like a missile or rocket of some kind. It at least eliminates mines and torpedos. I guess we’ll see.

  2. Follow the money.

So we cause the price of oil to jump and what little we manage to sell gets us more money.

They forget that you have to have some form of viable platform left to manufacture and sell from before someone takes it into their heads to destroy that ability. While we might have legitimate cause to hit them and still benefit from the price increase they caused.

But then what do I know…?

  3. So how about some real intelligence on this subject!! Iran did nothing!! So propaganda lies spring forth fast. The US liars are desperate to attack Iran to destroy it like it did Iraq and Libya. Foul, vile Americans!
    Look at photo realities:

“Additional comment on the first photo below:
Look at it. Look for scorched paint. There is none, even with that GIANT inferno. How did that tiny little fire on the “torpedoed” oil tanker in the subsequent photo burn the hell out of the entire side of it? Answer, it did not, it is a fake event.

If oil tankers really got hit by torpedoes, they should look like this:
Instead, we have an AI FAKE, NO OIL TANKERS GOT HIT WITH ANYTHING.”

  4. UPDATE: A CORRECTION has now been posted about the tankers. This reporter tries to be current AND right, with NO intention to deceive.

“MY ASSESSMENT ON THE OIL TANKER PICTURED WAS WRONG.
IT PROBABLY WAS HIT AND IS NOT A DEEP FAKE, THE CARGO WAS METHANOL WHICH IS WHY IT DID NOT SHOW UP AS AN OIL SLICK. THE BURN MARKS ON THE SIDE STILL NEED EXPLAINING.
I would have continued to call B.S., but Iran did the rescue of the crews of both ships, and Iranian media itself is saying it. So obviously my assessment is wrong, my error is mostly explained by the fact that the ship was carrying methanol, which would instantly totally combine with seawater and not be visible at all.
The other one hit was carrying gasoline, which would have been more visible but not like crude oil would be.

Fortunately I do not screw up like this often, and when I do, I post a clear correction.
