With the flourish of his pen, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers (D) vetoed four assembly bills placing restrictions on abortions on Friday.
First on this list, AB 179 , a “born alive” protection bill. Next up was AB 180, “informed consent” requiring women seeking drug induced abortion to be fully informed, and information on such abortions reported to the state. The GOP controls both houses in Wisconsin by significant amounts. It’s time for conservatives of all stripes to organize against the Dems that got elected by small majorities and not to be secretive about it. I’ve always found it beneficial to listen to the other person’s argument, to keep an open mind and to remember that nobody is the sole arbiter of truth. In this vein I have listened to all the arguments postulated by the abortionist’s, but they totally jumped the shark and exposed themselves for the cold blooded murderers that they are when they could not support “born alive” legislation.
Here is the soup bone part of the bill;
“This bill requires any health care provider present at the time an abortion or
attempted abortion results in a child born alive to exercise the same degree of
professional skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child as
a reasonably diligent and conscientious health care provider would render to any
other child born alive at the same gestational age and to ensure that the child born alive is immediately transported and admitted to a hospital.”
Drilled down to it’s commonest denominator, when a child is born alive, you must accept it as a life, a person, and render aid like you would to any other person.
Even if you have no moral/religious compass that professes the sanctity of life, all in God’s image, even if you view that the fetus is not a real person but is somehow magically anointed as such with the passage thru the vagina, even then any thinking person must accept that at this point there is equivocation, it is a living breathing person in need of medical assistance. To deny that assistance for any reason makes you a monster.
There have been cases when a baby at birth has been legally seized by Child Protective Services, allegedly taken from an unfit mother. It is LAW that from birth children are to be protected. It would seem that in requiring federal law to be carried out, it would also be legal for a President to declare an Executive Order to do just that.
