Two men tried to rob a 26-year-old woman on her way to a gym in Chicago last weekend. They picked her out, stopping her to ask directions minutes before they attacked. “I’m a normal-looking girl. I’m a normal person,” Claire Quinn said. “I’m not some jacked-up boxer.” But she is a fighter, with four years of training and competitive boxing experience. When one of the men came up behind her, pushed her onto the ground, punched her in the forehead, and demanded her phone, she was ready to go. “A man hits me, I’m firing back,” Quinn told Block Club Chicago. “I just kept throwing my right hand to his balls,” she said. “There’s no way to sugarcoat that or put it nicely.”

She reminds me a little of a young lady I know who is a third degree black belt in karate.
I know her from when I went back to school. We had to take one class that went late into the evening. She said she would take that class (it was also available on line) if I would walk her to her car after class (which my wife thought was a good idea). I always thought that if someone were to give us any trouble, I would be the least of his worries.

…good for her, hope she neutered him for all time. ANY man that puts his hands on a woman who isn’t violently attacking him deserves this, and maybe a prison rape, too.
Unfortunately, though, this doesn’t work for everyone. I worked a lot with abused women, and not all of them are physically or mentally capable of this type of defense.
