Billionaire conservative icon David Koch has died at age 79, CBS News has confirmed, according to a source close to the Koch family. The New York resident was suffering from deteriorating health as of late, according to a letter Koch’s older brother Charles Koch sent to company officials last summer.

He wrote at the time: “We are deeply saddened by this, as we miss David’s insightful questions and his many contributions to Koch Industries.”

The younger Koch had recently stepped down from the Koch brothers’ network of business and political activities. The brothers have long been involved in supporting the Republican Party and criticized by Democrats for their outsized influence in conservative politics.

  1. Seems like everyone except for money grubbing PACs will be fine with this outcome.

May his surviving family members spend their inheritance on frivolous personal wants rather than wasting it on political BS

  2. They have also given to very good causes. They are just of that globalist elitist mentality but hardly in the Soros category. Not my cup of tea but I’m not wishing anything horrible on anyone. RIP

  3. …no worries, he has has millions of heirs that he’s helped across the border, and his legacy is that his meddling will result in millions MORE…

  4. He didn’t take his money with him. He left it all behind for the heirs to do what they wish with it. His money did not buy him life, maybe a good life while it lasted, but in the end he is just like everyone else who is dead.

  5. Conservative? By who’s standards? I don’t think so.
The Koch brothers may have been able to fool people once upon a time, but that was 10 years ago.

  6. He (nor his brother) hasn’t been a conservative in the real sense of the word in quite some time. Open borders, cheap labor, social upheaval have been their watchword for years now. But as mentioned earlier in a comment he wasn’t in the same vein as George Soros so doesn’t deserve the same degree of invective.
