…true, but we had one where the fire burned through the truck hydraulics before it was noticed, so they couldn’t dump the load. It was burning deep inside the compactor section where we couldn’t penetrate with hoses and since it wasn’t showing flame to the outside we didn’t want to shut a city street down to dig it out, so we had an engineer drive it to the dump with a truck company following closely and police clearing the way, where they had some large piece of what I can only describe as construction equipment that just picked the whole truck up and shook the load out of it like a terrier on a poodle, and we put the fire out on the grounds of the dump after they lowered the truck again.
Dumps do not smell nice, but the DO have some awesome equipment, and you REALLY don’t need to worry about making a mess there…
(this was in 19dickety5. I’m sure they have some goofy groundwater regulations now that would make this somehow illegal, but the world wasn’t completely insane then…
