President Trump recently signed a bipartisan conservation bill aimed at preserving America’s national parks for the next generation.
Under the new law, known as the ‘Great American Outdoors Act,’ over $900 million will be invested each year into the land and conservation fund. This will help with ongoing repairs and restoration of our national parks, wildlife refugees and national monuments. more
bipartisan, pfft. Not a single lib will take that into consideration, but rather diss Trump for doing it.
Yep.. just checked the twitter replies. Trump can do nothing good.
who can actually travel nowadays to visit the national parks …
Maybe he should do something about the third world storming our gates, FIRST.

This is very timely for me actually having been to a couple of places like the thumbnail thread photo in the past week and a half.
I do wonder when driving the Grasslands of South Dakota, the balance of private vs public lands, its VERY complicated. How are horses and cattle grazing on a ‘National Grassland’ south of Pierre, SD?
@Shut it Down, Now!! – get in a car is my advice. Go on a Blue Highway of America. We got to Devils Tower early when we were there, and there were not many immigrants on the Harleys and in the campers that we saw. Oh we did see a couple of spanish dudes in car in Teddy Roosevelt NP at a small white pickup traffic jam looking a American Bison herd.
I understand the hyperbole of the article (I read it) and well just get up earlier I say, and seek out the places that no one really goes to.
Have you been to your local state capital building yet?

Sometimes an author can be a bit dramatic but in this case , I think not. He is primarily warning about the continued invasion of our country thanks to the government. I grew up in Calif. and lived 20 years in S. Nevada, travelled up and down and back and forth across country since 1980.
There’s quite a change with National Parks but what has really gotten bad is simply trying to enjoy a day at many local parks and rec areas. (aesthetics and safety are a thing of the past in many cases).
The author was pointing out the catastrophe that’s inevitable with continued immigration.
Last month, the institutionally offended party told us that national parks were racist. What changed?
Ghost, I don’t know if you ever read William Least Heat-Moon’s book Blue Highways, A Journey Into America. It is an older book from the late 70’s or early 80’s which tells of his travels across America in a Ford Econoline van on the blue highways which are the backroads of traveling across America. It is a good book worth reading, full of wit and humor about his travels and meeting a lot of the real people of America in the hinterlands off the Interstates and other major highways. I’d rate it up there with Travels With Charlie by John Steinbeck.

having driven all across the USA on both the interstates as well as the back roads.
i can tell you from personal observation that the back roads were much more enjoyable.
to me anyway.
I thought Obama sold the national parks to China.
@geoff the aardvark – yes, I am quite familar with that amazing book and I read Travels with Charley in ’85 on my first trip with some friends. One of the trips M Hatch and I did WAS in an Econoline one way from Phoenix to NYC, that was in ’93.
Oh, btw are you familiar with another one of his books called Riverhorse in which Least Heat Moon goes from NYC harbor to Astoria, Oregon….BY BOAT.
Tonight we are in Springfield, Ill and are going to see the Lincoln Tomb and state capital building tomorrow.
@Shut it Down, NOW !! – believe ME, I understand the basic points…
