American Thinker:
When two powerful Democrats suddenly reject the position of the teacher unions and support the position argued by President Trump, we know that something’s up. Andrew Cuomo‘s and Chuck Schumer’s abrupt switch of position to support reopening schools in New York leaves a lot of blue-state Democrats exposed to intensified criticism for keeping their own schools closed. I see five possible reasons that could explain this dramatic switch.
One
Let’s start trying to account for the change in position by taking Senator Schumer’s press conference explanation at face value.
What is one of the biggest problems facing us in the next month? As the Speaker mentioned, schools. Opening up the schools safely. If you don’t open up the schools, you’re going to hurt the economy significantly because lots of people can’t go to work.
Pick any reason but you know that when they make or change ANY plans it is to keep and gain political power at any cost. They couldn’t care a damn less about our parents, us, or our kids.
The only possible reason IMO, is that a wealthy donor or more stand to lose money, who are most assuredly not “workers”.
Funny how it also came at the time it was evident they were not going to get their bail out Pelosi and Schumer had been promising them. I’m guessing in those negations Pres Trump and team were requiring school opening.
If the results of government education are exemplar of what we’re witnessing in Portland and other liberal run cities then stick a fork in it. The teachers unions are destroying education.
That’s right. Lenin said=
“use the schools as transmission belts
to promote socialism”.Idiocracy movie is REAL.
Truth in the movies, lies in the media.
Personally I think it’s the one that their hold on indoctrination centers will end their party. My greatest wish is that they either don’t open or open with such draconian measures that parents say enough is enough and leave public schools.
“The teachers unions are destroying education.”
The teacher’s unions have destroyed education. FIFY
The answer is “e: All of the above.”
Our God is so awesome!
I may have found this at iOTWreport a while ago. If someone here came up with it I give full credit:
Democrat defined
Deceptive – appearing different from the true one
Egotistical – excessively conceited or self-absorbed
Maniacal – extremely wild or violent behavior
Obfuscating – rendering obscure, unclear, or unintelligible
Communist – advocating class war and all property is state owned
Raging – showing violent uncontrollable anger
Asinine – extremely stupid or foolish
Twatwaffle – Complete idiot that mere idiot, dumbass, or imbecile can not adequately describe
If schools don’t open no need to send any funding to them. Give it to the parents so they can home school or use private/charter schools.
The children would be the real winners then.
Follow the money, if the kids don’t go to public schools the teachers and the teachers unions will have no way to indoctrinate kids.
Not that hard folks, he ain’t that smart.
“Cases” and deaths going down = loss of initiative
Only way to regain, send kids to school, miraculously “case rate” explodes. Now Andy has to jump back into the command chair.
Rinse and repeat
…from the article…
“American unions have a history of self-destructive behavior”
…I’ve never been in a union myself (except for this weird experiment with the IAFF, but it didn’t last long enough to learn anything), but I’ve worked with a LOT of ex-Union guys in my non-union shop and they all don’t think very highly of their former unions.
…because their former unions are the reason WHY they’re working with me in a non-Union shop. To a man, their unions all got them laid off when they forced their former employer to shut down.
Ask Hostess how THAT works, althogh none of THOSE guys came from there. That’s just the best-known flameout, there are MANY lesser-known ones…
https://www.wnep.com/article/news/local/bradford-county/hostess-closing-plants-selling-brands/523-2d221e09-b6c9-46ba-a02c-69f99fa97b4a
…the aforementioned non-union plant we all work in WAS a Union plant, BTW, that found new digs here and fled a different state to get AWAY fron their union.
And when the UFCW, a union that paracites from their own members (a former brother-in-law worked for them in a Krogers and said they take dues for 9 YEARS before they will actually do anything for YOU) tried to unionize our polyglot and shifting work force once, even standing on the aprons wearing their pro-Obama T-shirts and trying to trick foreigners into signing union cards, but the company made no bones about it: if they unionized on a Monday, the doors would be chained shut on Tuesday.
That, the previously mentioned former Union guys, and the fact that our work force at the time was Cambodians and Central Americans that had fled Socialism to get HERE made their bid unsuccessful, at least THAT time…
…I know people who came from Union shops and left for Union shops, and they all have bizarre tales. A girl who went to work for Ford in Ohio and got yelled at for daring to empty her own trash. A guy who worked at a now-defunct GM plant in Ohio that said they had a paint leak and NO ONE was allowed to do amything about it even though the cutoff valve was RIGHT THERE because Union rules said only a pipefitter could operate the valve, only after he arrived on a golf cart from another building. Another Ford guy from MI who had his union, without asking him, trade his grievance for unpaid overtime away so they could keep a guy from getting fired for sleeping on the job. A railroad that couldn’t fire a heroin addict track worker.
And on and on and on…
…unions, from my outsider perspective, just seem like another and more corrupt layer of management that you have to PAY for until it forces you to stop working over increasingly silly demands that ultimately forces a shutdown and sling everyone out of work, except in Government where no one EVER has to meet a performance goal, all the while supporting their Democrat partners in corruption, usually over the objections of the rank and file…
…never heard anything GOOD about them, though, even from people who LOVE them. My wife’s cousin’s husbad LOVES his, and keeps trying to get me to work on coffins with him.
For $20 less an hour than my non-Union shop pays me, WITHOUT paying dues.
No.
Thanks.
…in a non-Union shop, you can do all right.
By not sucking.
…which is almost MANDITORY in a Union shop where they actually get MAD if anyone works HARDER…
…unions.
Better without ‘en…
Polling shows the citizens of NY are feed up with their previous keep the schools closed position, won’t vote for them, may even vote for their opponent, and they fear the odds of being voted out of office are increasing.
face it, don’t need a lot of analyzing on this …. parents are starting to get together & considering alternative method
which, in the long run, will be the death-kneel of public
schoolingindoctrination & exploitation of taxpayers $$$ to the unions@AbigailAdams – I think that would be option ‘G’ since the first six (a – f) are already taken 😛
