Texas Election Director Orders Halt to Harris County’s Massive Mail-Ballot Plan

Texas Scorecard:

After calls from election integrity activists and Republican officials, the Texas Secretary of State’s office has ordered an “immediate halt” on Democrat-run Harris County’s massive mail-ballot plan. This further proves Texans will have to stay alert in order to guard this year’s election integrity.

Earlier this week, Democrat Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins announced that for the upcoming November election, they would take the unprecedented step of sending 2.37 million mail-ballot applications to all of the county’s registered voters. The Harris County Commissioners Court approved the Democrat effort in a party-line vote, allocating more than $17 million in additional taxpayer funding to the county’s election administration. This raised the department’s total taxpayer funding to over $29 million.

This drew criticism from election integrity activists and Republican officials, including State Sen. Paul Bettencourt (R–Houston) and the Republican Party of Texas. In a statement on Thursday, the Texas GOP urged Texas Secretary of State Ruth Hughes to “review any foul play that could harm the integrity of our elections.” more

  1. Hell, let them mail in a ballot providing that they first pay $50 toward the extra cost of processing as well as provide a photocopy of a piece of mail with their name and current address that matches what is on the electoral role and finally signing a form that acknowledges that submitting fraudulent information or somebody other then the voter provided all or part of the processing fee is punishable by a minimum of one year and a maximum of five years in state prison. Bet that would have the polling places busy on election day.

  2. I live inHarris County and this is fabulous news! Unfortunately our county is now blue and our long-standing representative John Culberson, was defeated by a run-of-the mill wimpish Democrat lawyer Lizzie Fletcher who promises she’ll protect energy jobs. No she won’t! She CAN’T. Pelosi pulls her strings. But I am ecstatic over this news‼️

  3. Prior to moving from Harris county earlier this year my spouse an I received two vote by mail ballots that we did not request. Frankly it pissed me off and reinforced my opinion that the major cities in Texas are doomed to continued democrap leadership. Sorus snuck in a new county judge and county attorney last election and I’m sure he’ not through yet. I promptly shredded the ballots without even opening them.
