  1. …do these cops know NOTHING about control holds? I had better training and more ability with this when I was a 165 lb medic, and that wasn’t even something we spent a lot of time with relative to actual patient care stuff, it was just for emergencies.

That male cop looked like a good sized guy and was certainly taller than the kid, and already had his hands behind his back. If he’d have pulled one up it could have bent the kid down unless he wanted his shoulder dislocated, and that usually makes kids nice as pie.

And why was the female cop inserting herself at ALL? it just looked like the male cop was handing the kid off to her, but she wasn’t in position to control him at all.

This whole thing just looked really sad and unprofessional to me, and I’m not even a cop, but I’ve worked with them enough to know they can do WAY better than THIS…

  2. The officer screamed, “Taser! Taser! Taser!” before she discharged her weapon.
Clearly a mistake in the heat of that scuffle. But what else was going on? Expired tags, warrant, fighting police. Clearly a tragic mistake but these things don’t happen to people that are obeying the law.

Tacoma Washington’s Mayor spent most of last summer trying to incite a riot in Tacoma. Given the critical mass of neanderfucks who voted the booger eating moron into office, it amazes me she wasn’t successful.

“I have never resisted arrest (and yes, I have been arrested).”

…I’ve had cops draw on me before, in the pre-Tazer days.

Which resulted in me doing what the cop said.

Which is why I’m still alive today.

    Just saying.

  5. I can’t get to “negligent” on this.
It was a mistaken weapon discharge.
She meant to fire the weapon but thought it to be a taser.
She drew in the heat of battle and never even looked at her weapon because she was looking at the perp the whole time in case he had a gun.
Yes, the taser and gun should be easily distinguishable and she should have been better trained.
    Another win for diversity!

It looked to me like the male cop was fumbling with the handcuffs, and she moved in to “help” him, and the perp seized the opportunity to try and get away.

  7. It was just an accident, anyone can accidentally draw the wrong weapon when they’re trying to shoot someone, I imagine most of us have at one time or another.

  8. Given mob mentality, I agree with releasing the video ASAP. Other wise less level heads are going to be blowing this thing into an even worse situation.

I’ve never heard of an officer confusing his or her weapon with a Taser. I imagine there are going to be calls for a redesign of Tasers to be as dissimilar from a fire arm as possible.

  9. @LocoBlancoSaltine — You and I differ on a big point. In my view, mistakenly drawing a pistol and firing it thinking it was a taser is negligence. Making a mistake with a firearm and firing it at someone you don’t intend to shoot is negligent act.

You see it differently. So be it.

  10. @Dr. Tar:

I’ve never heard of an officer confusing his or her weapon with a Taser.

It’s happened twice before in my memory.

In 2009, a BART cop (SF Bay area) intended to use his taser on Oscar Grant. He mistakenly drew his pistol by mistake and killed the man.

In 2015, a Tulsa OK cop announced he was going to use his taser on Eric Harris. He, too, mistakenly drew his pistol by mistake and killed the man.

One might think that cops in training would spend a bit of time on this issue, given that it has happened at least twice and both times resulting in unintended fatalities. Looks to me like they don’t, though.

  11. Actually Uncle Al, the one in Tulsa wasn’t even a real cop. He bought his way through the Sheriff’s office to get to play cop when he felt like it and come to find out he didn’t have all of the required training or paperwork to be a reserve. He ended up getting sentenced to 4 years and a house cleaning in the sheriff’s department happened.
Sorry, I never felt sorry for him, he was a stupid old man who used his money to do a job he just wanted to look important doing without wanting to do the work to do it.

  12. The female cop was blinded by fear. Picked the weapon she unconsciously knew would stop the threat – immediately. Not thinking at all about the consequences.

She probably couldn’t assist the other cop effectively to gain control. She doesn’t have the ability to physically restrain the habitually criminal, skinny perp who still has more muscle strength than her.

Happens more often than not. A panicked female cop shoots first and asks questions later. Men and women are not physically equal. In hand to hand combat a woman will lose almost every time against a man.

Woke police department admins. will never get the training right. Women usually behave differently than men when threatened.

The fact is, when you have resistance and the POSSIBILITY of deadly force involved…BAD SHIT CAN HAPPEN.

That Tennessee video with the fat cop and the fat woman (black…have to ack race because these are the times) where she resisted, he chased her, she shot him, he shot her, she took off in car and crashed and died due to hot lead, shows how fucked up it is to be a cop.

Accidental shooting does not equal negligence Al.
Waving a gun around and it going off is negligence.
She MEANT to fire a weapon. It was an accidental shooting.
