  1. By the way, the soccer ball generally would not get most people to click.

  2. Quite so.

That is a fantastic felling, and I think most people who have spent many, many, hours behind a saw know that was Providence smiling upon his labors. Felling trees is fraught with variables, some of which we can see before we start, some of which we see in the aftermath, and some of which we will never know.

    “The man IS a God!”

No, all talent, all ability, all our experience is given and guided by God, and this man knows it.

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
    Phillipians 4:13

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
    John 15:5

Never think you’re better than he, lest he do something terrible to humble you.

Ask Joe Biden how THAT works…

  4. “Felling trees is fraught with variables,”

Best understatement of the month. It’s why I gave it up. It can get spooky dangerous….and suddenly and inexplicably for a moment until you figure out what the hell happened, very painful.

  5. That was as awesome a cut as they get. I have a couple tree faller friends of mine, and I know for sure they wouldn’t do that job without a disclaimer. High dollar job there. Success story all the way around!

  6. went through a period when I had the opportunity to fell a few mess of trees. was fortunate to never be injured, except a few ‘branch smacks’ here & there (not to say that I didn’t have a few buddies get hurt; not by my actions, thank God). dropped most where I wanted them … the worst was getting a few hung up in other trees … big pain in the a$$.

big, tight stuff like the vid tree …. had enough sense to leave it up to someone more skilled than I.

  7. Had 5 dead trees dealt with in my patch. Guys brought a crane, cherry picker, and chipper. Left an awful branch mess in my creek but at least I don’t have a 50 foot woodpecker hollowed dead ash looming over my house any more, among others, so God bless guys that can do that and are willing to…

  8. Felling trees is not like repairing telephones. Repairing telephones is “adhering to standards”. “A repair is an install done correctly”, as Tom, wisely, told me.

Cutting down trees? It’s a bit of roll the dice.

  9. I would have cut small pieces from the top down. Which, as alluded to above, has it’s own set of problems.

Sorta’ thought that’s how everyone did it in a residential property.

  10. That was awesome, but when that gigantic tree hit the ground, didn’t it shift, possibly damage the foundations of the buildings that are next to it?
    Just sayin.

Well, maybe it’s better than the tree crashing into the buildings…or all that matters is successfully felling a “white whale” of a tree. In that case, well done!

  11. I had a friend who was a tree surgeon for the city come over to take down a sick fir tree in my front yard on his day off. After stripping off most of the limbs he took a break, drank a soda then walked over to my neighbors drive way and set the empty soda can down in the driveway. The neighbor and I watched as he made his main cut and the very tip of that tree hit the can! It was a real HOLY SHIT moment!
