RIP Bastet – IOTW Report

RIP Bastet

Our cat, Bastet, lost his battle with health problems last week. He was a faithful companion to my wife when I was working nights. He was also a skilled hunter and all around funny guy. He was twelve years old but here is a photo of him hamming it up when he was young.

  1. May the Good Father comfort you and your family. It’s tough losing a fur buddy. Many of us have been there before and know how it feels. Prayers coming your way.

Sorry, Hambone, I know the feeling…had to bury my cat just last weekend on our new property. He is under a tree that will we be the burial site of all of pets. RIP Bastet.

  3. I have 4 feral cats that hang around the porch for treats. I talk to them when I’m outside and my neighbors most likely think I’m crazy. You can get attached to them. Time will soften the hurt some but the memory goes on for a long time.

  4. Sorry for your loss. I have a young male cat similar to yours and almost called him Bast short for Bastet (egyptian cat) because he looks like one even though he is not. RIP Bastet. Have fun catching prey in heaven.

  5. That is a beautiful photo. My 20 year old cat, Slinky, died recently, sometimes I think I see her out of the corner of my eye. I hope your cat will visit.

    I’m sorry for your loss.

To add to your comment, they are fastidious animals, cleaning and grooming themselves constantly, and never smell bad unless they are sick or very old.

And, all cats are athletically gifted. A couple of years ago a Florida Panther was videoed jumping across a 25 foot wide canal with one gigantic but graceful leap.

Cats are also the most beautiful of all mammals, IMO.
