Congress attempts to crack down on Chinese acquisition of American farmland.
Congressional Democrats and Republicans are raising concerns over China buying prime agricultural real estate across the U.S. – in an apparent, continuing effort to exert influence on the American economy.
Members recently advanced legislation that warns that such purchases also increases China’s involvement in the American food system, posing a national security risk.
More broadly, Congress has recently taken up the issue of American reliance on China in industries including semiconductors and minerals – both of which are key parts of the U.S. supply chain. more
I’ve been telling people for a while that the Chinese are trying to buy-out the San Joaquin Valley on farm at a time.
If they succeed they have control over 20% of the worlds food supply.
I bet when that happens the decades long drought suddenly disappears and the rain patterns along with the snow in the Sierras turns back to normal.
I guess they found that out when the USDA started doling out money to “Farmers of Color” in May, and Farmer Wong Chai Com held out his hand.
Owned by China or some big corporation like Monsanto, or even Ted Turner, American farmland is a hidden gemstone. We already gave away the nuclear material when Hillary sold off Uranium ONE… our country is in deep doo doo. Beyond that, Bezo’s and the SI valley oligarchs have power over all of us. We are all like the farmers in Ukraine under Stalin. The most we can do is refuse to till the soil and refuse to pay the dangeld. Tough times ahead.
Chinese owned land in America is easily Nationalized. Bill Gates land, not so much.

Holy Cow! Congress is just now finding this out?! I noticed the land grab of the ‘Bread Basket of America” about 30 years ago. It was very noticeable as you drove from Riverside to Walnut Creek, CA which we did often.
And it was and IS happening across America. I wonder how many utilities they already own. How many states, congress persons, how much of the military do they own?

How the hell can a country allow foreigners to buy land anyway? This should have always been illegal. If they really want to do something, pass a law making it illegal and make the law where any foreigner who owns land must turn that land over to the state and allow them to auction it off to the highest American bidder and then send the assholes back to their own country.
