My thoughts, exactly, Billy. The most disturbing part of this story, is that the kids were “disappointed”. and some stayed home. WTF? I would have gone to Cabellas, and bought American Flag shirts for the whole family. Shit, I would have rented a friggin’ Uncle Sam costume.
I was at Emerald Downs over the weekend for the Muckleshoot Gold Cup Indian Relay races. The races were rescheduled from June due to Covid but the crowd was still substantial. Normally my kids and I are among the few white folks in attendance at Indian Relay races, but the parimutuel betters were out for the gate races and off track betting.
OK, guys the National Anthem came on and not a sole did not show respect for the anthem and the flag. This is very typical of Indian Relay races. I’m going to tell you straight up that the Tribal members who work hard and came from as far away as South Dakota don’t play that shit. We’ve been at Omak for Stampede Week and Ellensburg for Kittitas Co Fair and EBurg Rodeo over Labor Day and if anyone had tried to take a knee they would have got their Goddamned neck wrung. In fact the Democrats booth at the fair and their presence in the parade was conspicuous in their absence this year. After the Afghanistan disaster the week prior they made themselves pretty scarce.
I have been at races where teams had an American flag painted on the haunch of their horses, along with the various traditional Indian painting on other parts of their horses.
We put up wit a lot from the Goddamned leftist filth here in Washington state, but once you get out of the shithole metropolitan areas Washingtonians are solid.
They should ALL have carried American Flags with them.
