Father of fatally shot 6-year-old slams San Francisco DA Boudin for making city’s criminal justice system ‘a complete joke’

The father of a 6-year-old that was fatally shot during a fireworks show on July 4, 2020 is speaking out against San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin, stating that his “broken” criminal justice system resulted in the killer serving a lesser amount of time due to his age.

“The killer of my 6-year-old son will likely serve less time than the age of my son because of Chesa’s campaign promise. Boudin’s campaign promises do not protect San Franciscans and ensure justice – they only allow criminals, and in this case, murderers, to return to the community,” he continued.

Boudin reportedly ran on the campaign promise of not trying those under 18 as adults, no matter the seriousness of the crime committed.

Young asserted that the city has a DA and public defenders that aid criminals, “while crime victims and residents have no one fighting for them.”

“Some wonder why the Black community doesn’t have faith in the justice system,” he continued. “We cannot help but feel that if this had happened to a White child in another neighborhood, we would not be having this discussion; we would not have this result from a dismissive, out-of-touch district attorney. At the very least there would be some real accountability in Jace’s case.”

On July 4, 2020, Jace Young was fatally shot in San Fransisco’s Bayview District during a fireworks show. He was rushed to the hospital, but did not survive.

Investigators identified two of the suspected four gunman, then 17-year-old Deshaune Lumpkin and 18-year-old James Harbor.

When law doesn’t protect us, citizens will haul out the rope and do it themselves and make the law work the old-fashioned way.

In that case, a jail cell is not strong enough to protect the criminals. In an incident in San Jose in 1933, the community pulled two kidnappers/murderers out of jail and strung them up. The vigilantes were praised by the politicians.

…history has a way of repeating, see if this sounds like it’s pretty familiar and contemporary, even though its 140 years old and you never heard about it…

“For three days in 1884, Queen City citizens transformed their city into a war zone of deadly magnitude. From March 28 through March 30, 1884, law enforcement officers and Ohio National Guardsmen engaged in intense street fighting with mobs of Cincinnati residents that left more than forty people dead and over one hundred injured.

The Cincinnati Courthouse Riot was rooted in a corrupt political system that failed to control crime, which was rampant in the city during the late 19th century. Political leaders earned reputations for controlling elections and manipulating judges and juries in return for personal gain. Violent crime grew to such proportions in the 1880s that the Cincinnati Enquirer referred to the Queen City as a “College of Murder”. By March 1884, Cincinnati residents had had enough.

The event that precipitated the riot was the murder trial of William Berner. In a high profile case, Berner stood accused of beating his employer to death in the act of stealing $285. When the jury convicted him of manslaughter, instead of murder, the judge called the decision “a damned outrage” and the irate crowd packing the courtroom threatened to lynch the jury. On Thursday, March 27, the newspapers called for a meeting of citizens the next evening to condemn the verdict.”

    And a familiar punchline.

“Ironically, in a scheduled election that took place the following week, the people of Cincinnati voted to return to office candidates of the same political machine whose corrupt practices had triggered the Cincinnati Courthouse Riot.”

    …yep, some things never change…

  4. Criminals are sentenced to and serve time in prison because they need to be removed from society. It just that simple. Sometimes for a short time or longer time and sometimes forever. Good people need to be protected and Society will eventually prevail and remove them with other methods if need be.
