I am leaving NYC to protect my children – Karol Markowicz

NYP-

I am leaving New York City, the place where my husband and I both grew up and where we had planned to raise our own kids. The response to COVID-19 in New York, in particular where children are concerned, has driven our family out.

We stay because we know that no other city has the energy and endless possibility that New York does. We’re open all night, all the time.”

Suddenly that energy was snuffed out. The pandemic hit New York early and hard. Still, I had so much faith we would recover. I imagined that my city would rise from the ashes like we did after 9/11, after the 2003 blackout, after Hurricane Sandy. We learned from those hard times to join together, to help each other. The days after those events were some of the most beautiful and inspiring. New Yorkers were there for each other. Our huge city was as tightknit as any small town.

This time was very different. The pandemic had us at each other’s throats. Neighbors reported each other for gatherings. People screamed at each other in the street for not wearing masks. It became religious and any questioning of the doctrine was forbidden. It was impossible to discuss whether containment measures were useful (Did we need to wipe down our groceries with Clorox? What were the three-sided Plexiglas booths helping, exactly?) because any discussion of easing up on any of it meant you wanted PEOPLE TO DIE. If you wanted schools to open, you wanted TEACHERS TO DIE. People became afraid to speak up. I saw it all the time.

Why don’t you go to bed like normal people

  2. The world is a big place, why stay where you’re shuttered in and hated for making your own choices?? The nut balls running NY have crushed NY in their defective contact with reality and it doesn’t look like they are coming back anytime soon.

No. It wasn’t. “This” time is just another step, along the path you demanded, every “other” time.

You are “leaving” New York (Really? No return visits? No “Except for my dentist.”? No “Keeping my same attorneys.”? Really?) so your children have better opportunity to parasitize a new people… a new host. New York is swelling with the cancer you bring. The cancer you, and your children, are. Best to hop onto a newer, fresher, victim. Again.

  4. Wherever you go there you are. You’re kinda like all the libtards that left California for Texas – are trying to turn Texas blue. Either way, find a liberal state you will fit into.

  5. What took so long. Who lives in a filthy crap-hole like NYC if they do not have to? She grew up there and doesn’t know any better I suppose. I am just hoping at least half of these refugees learn to vote correctly and leave their dirty dem habits behind.

  6. You get what you vote for. Do you have conversations about the clot shot, or do you shut down anyone who disagrees with you? If your answers are no & yes respectively, stay in NY. You’re part of the problem.

  7. Everyone can talk shit about us New Yorkers.

And that’s fine. Who fucking cares?

You have no idea of where this author is coming from and would like to go.

Maybe Ghost should stay away from your Red States?

Become a hermit in the beautiful Adirondacks instead.

  8. Ghost, all we know is what we read and see. Obviously news people will go for the ‘red meat’ angle as much as they can…because sales and viewership.

If NYC is livable and safe, tell us what it’s really like. Do you have boring normal days or is getting to work or going to the store a wild and savage adventure?

There must be some reason you stay in a densely populated urban area. I live rural, and have lived rural long enough to have forgotten why I ever lived in a city in the first place.

  9. I think that this reporter from the NY Post is a conservative …. first of all she works for the NY Post, not the NY Times. Secondly, she has been on Fox News several times, as a voice of reason against all the masking and vaxxing insanities.

Why assume that she is a liberal, just because she is from NYC? There are plenty of Conservative New Yorkers and they can see that their city is dying. Most of them get out if they can.
