…there really SHOULD be a “Good Samaritan” type set of laws concerning normal citizens ending criminal situations they suddenly come upon and are not trained to handle, but AS decent human beings they really SHOULD help if they are able.
Good Samaritan laws are designed around the idea that “any help is better than none”, and have ingrained the understanding that most people are not trained medical personnel and so don’t hold people to the same standard an EMT would be held to if they attempt CPR and don’t do it right, among other things. This is so no one has the excuse that they had to think about being sued, this creating a greater pool from which someone may actually be able to help QUICKLY until trained help DOES arrive.
This is almost a complete OPPOSITE with defending another person from harm, even though common sense says it shouldn’t be. If you come across a person bleeding, first thing you have to do is stop the bleeding by any means necessary. If you come across a person being beaten, logically the first thing you need to do is stop the beating by any means necessary. Both these actions are primary to saving a life.
But you will be a hero on the first one, and a villain on the second if the media has anything to say about it. Stopping the beating may get you arrested, charged, tried, and convicted of laws you don’t even know exists, simply because it wasn’t YOU being threatened, and you may even get successfully sued by the person DOING the beating.
Even if you clear yourself, you will lose time at work, maybe even get fired, and you will have to pay lawyers to prove your innocence, or at least your honest ignorance. Then its up to some judge, usually a Democrat, to look at your skin color and the person you’ve beaten, and typically make his judgment on THAT and nothing else.
There is no Good Sam law to protect you from protecting others. You are entirely at the mercy of judges and juries in these situations.
And you WILL be held to the standards someone saw last night on some cop show, too. Juries are stupid cratures, and judges can steer them wherever they want. Most judges want to discourage “vigilantism”, so they will steer them accordingly.
And don’t look for the media to be your freind. They are always on the wrong side because the wrong side pays them.
This is why there SHOULD be Good Sam shooter laws, for times that a good guy with a gun ended a threat to another when the police were unwilling, unable, or simply absent.
But good luck getting such through Democrat legislatures.
They’ve been setting this up for 60 years. The last thing they want is for citizens to be able to effectively deal with their brownshirts and their pets NOW, when its all about to pay off.
Love how people just stand there watching and taking video of this like it’s some kind of performance art instead of helping – like helping the girl holding the perp’s feet for instance.

The thing that pisses me off is that the cops almost always say “don’t resist, don’t do this kind of thing, you may get hurt”. they just don’t want anyone encroaching on “their” authority, because it makes them look bad. Well, when seconds count, the cops are minutes away, and a few years back the Supreme Court said that the cops aren’t obligated to risk their lives for your protection.
Sorry I wasn’t there to trip over that scum bags face, two or three times.

I think that’s because the guy flipped him o his back. Not many ways to really help unless you want to sit on his legs. I think it’s great the guy jumped in. I hope we see more of this. But it’s awfully hard to pin his arms behind him, and render him immobile when he’s laying on his back.
Personally I want to see that girl kick him a few more times. LOL

That can be pretty dangerous too. Ambulances and firetrucks are set up for quick access, not security, and hostiles can remove things from them with relative ease. Also, they frown of FFs carrying guns, plus anything a medic breaks on a person, he has to FIX. That service also does not prioritize evidence collection (evidence considerations and self-defense ARE training topics but not first priority), and FD crowd control techniques are more about frantic family and nosy neighbors and not for hostile tribes. It tends to be more advisable in situations like that to explain clearly to all involved that you are there to help the wounded regardless how they got that way, and…SUPER important if you’re wearing a badged uniform…that you are NOT police and that you are uninterested in police things (even though you are). Cooperation is the key because you cannot care for a patient without turning your back on a potential assailant, and that can be tricky at times.
Althogh sometimes the cops make it HARDER because they have different priorities. You get everyone calmed down and start to work, then John Law busts in and starts acting like its downtown Hue in the middle of the Tet Offensive and ramps the fun up again. Or they start to wrestle with people that have little or no involvement with the immediate situation for reasons of their own, now you have MORE patients to deal with.
Most of the time my cops got there ahead of me because they were bored, already out cruising, and my district was scarcely the South Side of Chicago, and sometimes they even started CPR ahead of me or did other lifesaving interventions before the Squad responder even got there. On balance I was always happier to have them, but you could always figure something out either way…
No one screams “police brutality” for a white crook. It’s a race grift.
