There was an article on Yahoo recently that southern IL received three 1000-year rainfalls in ONE WEEK.
8 to 12 inches of rain fell within a 12 hour timeframe and that kinda rain has only a 0.1% chance of happening in any given year.
and then it goes off the rails..

It’s frickin settled dammit, 3 1000-year rains in one week, there’s no other explanation. Mother nature has spoken with rain and we know for a fact because 7%.
Seems to me that with a 7% increase in what the air can hold, the AMOUNT of rain should also coincide with that percentage, and maybe even the FREQUENCY. I’ll give them that much, but to say a 7% increase equals commonplace 1000-year rains? No, that’s too far, it’s nonsensical.
It’s particularly nonsensical because if it was a 1000-year drought, they would use the same logic and blame climate change. It’s the only reason provided for any weather anomaly rather than using actual science to study and understand what’s happening.
So sick of this BS.
And we haven’t even talked about the onset of our 12,000 Solar cycle, Earth’s rapidly decreasing magnetic field, a possible magnetic polarity reversal in our future, the Earth now once again passing trough the galactic current sheet and the increasing chances of 1859-like Solar events – all combined to produce unknown BADNESS, including temporary loss of our ozone layer, increased tectonic/volcanic activity and actual global cooling.
I sure don’t want to talk about any of that. 🙂

Actually, the models for an “atmospheric river” event for California due to an unusual and dramatic jet stream shift were run decades ago. And it is a very likely scenario over the long haul. The central valley gets pretty much flooded out for weeks on end as the water takes forever to drain.
